"Hello sir, what would you like?" I asked the customer while he squinted up at the menu.
"Hmm.. I don't know." He answered while looking down at the display of food.
"Well, are you a carnivore or a herbivore." I asked while laughing.
"Both, definitely both." He laughed, "I'll just get a veggie delight, six inch."
After making his sandwich and cashing him out, I looked down at my apple watch to see the time.
"Great, two more hours of work and no one here to talk with." I mumbled to myself while wiping down the food counter.
Jasmine got the job, but my manager has yet to even put her on the schedule. I'm always working alone, she could've been here and I could've been training her. My manager is truly a piece of work, I just couldn't deal.
Looking up and noticing a customer walking in, I put on a pair of gloves.
"Welcome to Subway, what would you like?" I smiled.
"Foot long Spicy Italian on wheat." The guy spoke up.
"What type of cheese?"
"None."
"Toasted?" I looked up at him and he picked at his beard in thought for a moment.
"Yeah."
After putting his sandwich in the microwave, I stood and put my hand on my hip.
"You working alone?"
I turned around and looked up at him for a moment, "Yes, i'm a sad case." I replied sarcastically and he chuckled.
"You funny. You go to Freewell don't you?" He asked.
Hearing the microwave beep, I took out the sandwich and ignored his question. I didn't know the dude from a can of paint, no way I was telling him anything about me.
"What type of veggies?" I asked.
He chuckled lowly, "Lettuce and three tomatoes."
"Sauces?"
"Just light mayo." He replied.
"Would that be all?" I asked and he simply nodded.
While wrapping his sandwich, he spoke some more.
"I go to Hinsdale High, that's why I asked." He stated. "I be seeing you on Dominic's snap."
"Ok, So what's up?" I asked him while taking off my gloves to put in his order.
"I think you kinda cute. Well nah, I think you're real cute. I asked Dominic for your snap or number but he cussed me out." He laughed while shaking his head. "Can I have your number? I want to get to know you." He asked sincerely.
I laughed at him, waiting for him to laugh too, but he didn't laugh at all. "Oh you for real?"
I've had a couple guys ask for my number jokingly while working, so I thought this was the case as well. Also, he was extremely cute. What kind of guy like him would even want a lame girl like me?
