Dominique Williams.
"It's like something out of Shakespeare, because i'm really not here when you're not there." I sang along to Everytime by Ariana Grande while making tea before I go to school.
"You always listening to that damn song by her." Jasmin spoke while turning her nose up walking into the kitchen.
"Don't hate on Ariana. Stream sweetener on Apple Music or Spotify, sis." I insisted and Jasmin just shook her head.
"I'd rather not. Are you going to the basketball game today at Hinsdale?"
"Yes. My boo is playing from there."
"I know you lying." She laughed loudly, hitting her hand on her thigh.
"Is it that surprising that I have a boyfriend?" I rolled my eyes and poured my tea into my travel mug to take to school.
"Girl, no. It's just surprising because you two are going so fast into this relationship. He didn't even meet Uncle Kirk!" She exclaimed.
"Well we aren't officially together technically and I don't want my Dad to know until I for sure know that Brandon and I are serious." I explained.
No one knows about our relationship because we are keeping it private and I for sure was not going to let Dominic know, he just would judge me over every little thing. Brandon is a very nice and down to earth person, of course he looks like your average "fuck boy"- but he's not.
Once I found out about his background and his family life, I understand why he goes so hard for basketball. He wants to get his mother and little sister away from the projects and let his mother not have to work to provide for him and his little sister. He's an overall gentleman, no one would know that, since he has his reputation.
"You can't take anything serious in a high school relationship, Nique." Jasmine advised while shaking her head.
I ignored what she said and grabbed my keys, "Let's go before we be late."
"I'm riding with Dominic today." She looked over at me and smiled while making cereal.
As I opened the door, there stood Dominic sitting outside on our bench that was on the porch. I decided to ignore him and walk to my car, but he yelled my name so so I turned around to look at him.
"That's how it is, Dom?" He asked, looking confused.
"I don't know, you tell me." I replied, crossing my arms.
"I just don't want you to end up getting hurt." He reasoned.
"I'm not! Contrary to popular belief, Brandon is a sweet person. So stop making it seem as if he's some awful person." I snapped.
"Man, I'm done tryna look after ya lil' naive ass."
"Fuck you!" I rolled my eyes and walked to my car.
"Fuck you too!" He shouted back at me.
After getting into my car, I cried out of frustration. All the years Dominic and I have been friends, I couldn't believe it would get like this just over someone he thought was no good for me. I thought him and I was better than that.
I just shook my head and started my car to drive to school. I had better things to do than to feel like I'm the bad guy over someone I had feelings for.

"Hurry up so I can see how you look!" Jasmin yelled with a hint of annoyance from outside my bedroom door.
