"So, what clubs and extracurriculars are you guys going to sign up for?" I asked.

The usual group sat you around our round table in the smoothie shop. It was the second week of school and we have managed to come here almost everyday. Not everyone always came but there was always a small group of us huddled around the table.

Today everyone had their laptops, working on projects from different teachers. We hadn't really said anything but it was too silent and I needed more chatter. It was strange because I could swear our group never shut up.

"Well, my scholarship requires me to take one extracurricular activity so I'm doing debate club," Alex piped up first,

"I'm not good at the fine arts so I decided to try a different art. The art of verbally pounding someone into dust." She said and I have to agree. Her handwriting was... Well it was something for sure...

"uh, eh bien, comme Alex, j'ai eu ma bourse en faisant quelque chose. Je suis ici sur une bourse de sport pour la course à pied longue distance. je joue aussi au football." Lafayette responded. She obviously didn't notice that she had said it in french because she just looked back out the window, at which point Alex translated it to English for us. (Uh, well, like Alex, I got my scholarship for doing something. I'm here on a sports scholarship for long distance running, and I also play soccer.)

"Oh, I didn't know that!" Hercules said, which was followed by many "me neither"'s from most everybody.

"Hm. Well, anyways, I'm thinking of signing up for the boxing team, since I did that when I was younger." Hercules continued.

"I'm doing debate club!" Said Thalia,

"And also probably theatre with Jamie. She's too shy to do it by herself." I glanced at Jamie who had a dark blush staining her ears. She brushed her short ringlets from behind her ears to cover them up. I'm actually surprised that the hair had even stayed behind them, it was so short.

"Hey, I'm doing theatre too!" Elijah added, followed by Ani, Peggy, and me.

"Hey you guys should join, too!" I said to alex, Laf, Herc and Burr. (Theodore was sick).

By the time we left me and Peggy had managed to convince Alex, Laf, and Herc to tryout for minor rolls as the ensemble but Burr didn't want to.

Her argument was something about "not having enough time" blah blah. Oh well, 3/4 isn't bad.

We gathered our stuff; rolling up posters, gathering papers and files, looking for pencils that had dropped on the ground.

Lafayette and Thalia went up to the front to give a tip, it was our one rule; to always give a tip at the end of the night. A dollar for every hour we had hogged the table. Today it was 5 dollars and a couple small coins Laf had found under the table during our hunt for pencils.

We all took a detour to walk the Schuyler's to their apartment building and finally reaching our dorm building.

We all hopped into the elevator. I pushed the button for level 3, Burr hit 4. We stood in silence listening to the weird music. I think I recognized it to be a band from the 60's. The elevator dinged when we reached our floor.

"Bye guys. See you tomorrow!" I said to Burr, Thalia and Jamie giving a small wave. They returned the gesture as the door shut.

We started down the hall in silence until Lafayette screamed "LAST ONE TO THE DORM IS CHUBBY FAILURE!!"

We started sprinting down the hall. Lafayette made it to the door first by far. Herc came second with me and Alex not too far behind.

"What even is a chubby failure?? What the heck?" I laughed to Lafayette.
