Metaphorically Speaking
It was too late
Yet much too soon
A sun clashing most ferociously
With an unsuspecting moon
It seemed so perfect
Yet there were flaws
A cat missing a goldfish
Repeatedly slipping past its paws
It started out happy
Yet ended off so sad
An ever-loving new puppy
Which, mistreated, turned out mad
And so, I ask you this:
Do you expect one to stay
After times got uncertain and qualities confused
And a full, innocent heart
Was unwittingly abused?
