My camera was still swinging on its strap around my neck when I arrived at the house. Realizing my mistake, I quickly removed my camera from around my neck and carefully placed it in my bag.
"Madelyne Rose! Where have you been!" My mother called out from a spot on the couch with an empty beer bottle in hand. I closed the door lightly and hung the car keys up on the hooks.
"Sorry Mom. I got carried away with my homework. I promise to be back on time tomorrow." My voice came out in little above a whisper, bracing for a drunken lecture and thrown glass bottle.
"Just make dinner." She grumbled, getting back to watching TV and drowning her sorrows. With surprise lighting my eyes I answered, "Yes ma'am." And hurriedly shuffled to the kitchen and fixed up a quick and filling dinner for the two of us.
After cleaning up dinner, the stairs to my bedroom were met by my feet as they scrambled to reach the safety of my room. My bag dragged into my shoulder as I reached the top of the stairs, shutting and locking the door to my room, I flung onto my bed.
Finally, I was able to rid myself of my mother's frightening presence. She was always drunk and when she wasn't, she was working her lowsy job at the gas station.
My mind was whirling, thinking of all the possible reasons the boy was in my picture and what he was doing there. Eyes aching from all the strain of the day, the fluttered closed and helped me relax.
After long and hard deliberation, my mind came to the conclusion that this boy must've been taking pictures, like me, and accidentally gotten me in one of his pictures. It has to be that.
There, now all I have to do is find him by asking around and then I will find him and say hi. Then, leave after we meet."Should probably get some rest." I mumbled, eyes still closed. The lifted open and I groaned as the blinding light hit them, causing me to shrink back into my bed and blankets.
getting up wearily and rummaging through my closet, I pulled out my Pj's. With them on and blankets covering me, I nodded off. Coincidently dreaming about the boy in the hoodie.-----------
Sorry this one is so short! Promise it will be longer next chapter!
