The next morning Archer wakes me at 7 a.m. like usual. Proceeding through our morning routine before we head out to the apartment at 8:30 a.m. and it should only take me fifteen minutes to drive there.; which I manage. One nice thing about this town is there isn't massave amounts of traffic.
Climbing out of the car, I unbuckle Archer before we wait for the manager of the apartment complex and Patrick and Abby to arrive since I'm fifteen minutes early. Taking in the view around me, I love what I'm seeing. There's a playground that looks safe and clean for Archer when he's a little older.
The grass seems to be well maintained to let him sit on and play. The structure of the complex looks crisp and well cared for as well. The pale grey paint seems to be well maintained, and the windows and patios of the apartments seem sound.
"Brayden!" I hear a femanine voice before arms are wrapped around my waist, squeezing me tightly. Jumping slightly I turn to see Abby is the one hugging the stuffing out of me as Patrick walking up to the three of us with a smile gracing his lips.
"Hello Abby, hello Patrick," I shyly greet them as Archer lifts his head off of my shoulder to stare at Abby. Both new comers greet Arch and I with smiles and hello's.
"Place seems nice on the outside," Patrick notes as he stands with Abyy, Archer and myself causing me to nod in agreement.
"The manager should be here in a few moments, I don't have to do any paperwork unless I decided to rent here." When Patrick raises an eyebrow in question, I inform him I filled everything out prior online, he nods in understanding.
"Mr. Miles?" we hear a female voice ask from behind us, clearly confused. I understand her confusion, when I set this appointment up, I had told her it would be only myself and my son, now I have two extra people with me.
The three of us turn toward her with smiles on our lips. "Hello, I'm Brayden Miles. Nice to meet you, Mrs. Cooper," I finish stepping toward her with my hand stretched out to her which she takes and we shake before dropping our hands.
She eyes Patrick and Abby, so I decided to introduce them as I nod at them with my head. "Mrs. Cooper, this is Abby and Patrick," catching the semi-hurt look in Patrick's eyes. Huh, wonder what that's about, guess I'll question him on this later.
"Why don't we head inside and I can show you the empty two bedroom you inquired about, shall we?" she asks as her painted red lips quirk into a smile. The three of us nod as she leads us to the formentioned apartment, unlocking it with a maseter key.
As she talks about what the apartment and the complex offers as we take in the view from the lovly modern looking kitchen to the bedrooms and bathroom. I have to admit, I'm impressed and the rent is affordable, allowing me to realize that I have enough money to afford the first six months, plus first and last months rent and security deposit plus anything that Archer or I would need until I can start working again.
With what I sold for money to come here, the money I saved while growing up plus what I had saved from my job when I started working at 14 years old and the money mum left me when she passed away. I might not even bother checking out the trailer later this afternoon.
Once we were finished, I questioned Patrick with a silent look. He smiles at me as he says out of ear shot of Mrs. Cooper, "Abby and I checked out the trailer you were telling us about before we meet with you this morning. I'm not going to lie, I strongly would suggest you rent this apartment."
When I cock my head to the side curiously, he explains, "The trailer is not located in a good park, it looks to have a majority of quiestionalbe people who live or frequent there, I don't want either you or Archer living in a place that I question if you're going to be hurt."
