So I was reading a lot of reviews lately and this phrase/term was frequently mentioned. I had no idea what it meant! I thought maybe it was similar with "white elephant". I Googled it and it said: when you're telling a story and the reader has no idea about the setting, like what time is it? Is it day or night? Dawn or dusk? Bright or dark, how a place look like. Or if there is a smell. Since readers don't know the setting, the effect is like a "white room".
When I found out what it meant I became conscious of my own story. I think I placed the setting appropriately in my book? I hope I did!
