❝DO YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE SOME GUM?❞
。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆
CHRISTOPHER DOES NOT LIKE SCHOOL. He likes to learn, he finds it fascinating and compelling. What he doesn't like is the people. Ranging from borderline psychos like Henry Bowers to snotty privileged girls like Greta Keene, it makes Christopher sick to his stomach. Because he knows better than to judge people if they have less than you, or because they're different. To Christopher, it's just plain dumb. If he could he would make sure everyone is happy and no one would be judged.
One day he hopes that's true, and every night before he goes to bed and thinks that, hoping his thoughts will turn to birds, and find a way to God. Because despite what many people think, Good loves everyone. He does not care about gender, sexuality, or whatever else is considered 'wrong' or a 'flaw.' In the end, love is all anyone has. Love is the best feeling you could ever have, and Christopher knows that. And he just so happens to be on the lucky boys in the world experiencing love.
But since he can't share that with the world, he settles with tapping his pencil on his desk with his right hand, while his left hand flipped pages of the book, The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. It's a free hour in his current class, almost every kid went to sit by his or friends. That includes Stanley, who still sits behind Christopher but engulfed in a conversation with his best friends, Bill Denbrough, Eddie Kaspbrak, and Richie Tozier. Christopher would also be sitting with his friends in that class, but he loves to read and always found himself reading during his free time.
As Christopher read the line, 'you still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There's still lots of good in the world', a girl approached him, taking a seat in the empty desk beside him. Behind her - but a ways away still - seemed to be her friend group, giggling while watching. "Hi Christopher," she said with a smile. This caused the boy to look at her with a greeting smile. The boy always seems to be smiling, he has nothing to not be happy about. Just about everyone in Derry, Maine knows of the Ryans boy famous smile. It brightens anyone's day.
"Hello, Katie." He said, putting his pencil in his book at a bookmark. "How are you?" The boy wasn't flirting, no way, he's way too in love with Stan to do so. Christopher just happens to be one of the very few genuinely polite people.
The girl, Katie, felt her cheeks began to warm up, indicating she began to blush. She looked at her feet with a giggle, "good." She then took a deep breath and looked back up at the book Christopher had. "Do you like to read?"
"Very much so, yes," Christopher told her, glancing for a split second at his copy of The Outsiders.
Katie began to play with her fingertips as she shyly asked, "do you like love and romance books?"
Christopher let out a chuckle and breath afterward. "They aren't personally my favorites." Because he's living in one. "But I do love the ideas of love inside them. To love someone that much, and know that they're gonna always be the one for you. Even when it ends in a tragedy, somehow it's still just as beautiful as a happy ending." Little did Christopher know that words completely sum up his love story. We may not quite know what tragedy awaits the boys, but it's something no one will ever truly be quite prepared for.
"Have you," Katie cleared her throat. "Have you ever wanted to feel that kind of love?" The girl sure does want to. With the boy, she's currently staring at, but her silly crush will always stay that; a silly crush. Because for the poor girl, even if Stan and Christopher were to split, Christopher still won't be interested. For reasons unbeknownst to her, but known for Christopher. Which it's quite obvious why to you all.
"I have felt that kind of love," Christopher told her while starting to sit up straighter.
"You've been in love before?!" Katie exclaimed excited, "oh how lovely." Her excitement is only because she believes if she has a chance to be with him, he'll know how to give her love that she reads about or watches in movies. Katie knows she'd feel like a princess with him.
Which isn't a lie, Stan surely feels like a prince when with Christopher. "Yeah I have been in love, it's more wonderful than anyone could ever explain." He nodded while looking down. It's Christopher's goal to make Stan feel like a prince, and it's a goal that he has achieved. No one is more romantic and loving than the brunette.
"With who?" Katie asked, and from the corner of his eyes, Christopher saw Stanley's eavesdropping.
Christopher smirked and laughed to himself, he looked at the floor with his smile. "Hold that thought?" He then looked up again with a knowing and flirty smile, "Hey Stan?" Stanley looked up in shock, diverting his attention - and his noisy friends - attention to Christopher. Stanley hummed a 'hm?' And Christopher continued, "do you happen to have some gum?" At that moment as the two stared at each other, if Katie looked at Christopher's eyes, she would've had her answer.
