~ opening ~

Sam stared at the paper laying on his desk. It was directions to the abandoned warehouse nearby. He shook his head. "This isn't Ace's handwriting. It can't be, Solaris." He turned to the pacing female, staring at the floor, desperately trying to come up with a plan.

"You know him better than I do," she snapped in a response. "You should know what his handwriting looks like. He was originally apart of your posse you've told me much about."

He sighed in frustration. He slammed his head on his desk, crumbling up his paper. "If Ace doesn't give us word on what the hell to do, or why this note appeared in my mail box, Im personally going to murder him."

"Let's not do that."

"Why not?"

"We need him, Sam," she explained, stopping in her tracks to look at the distressed blonde. "Though it may not seem like it now, he's helping us. Slowly, but that's because he doesn't want to get caught by Kale, who is psycho enough to kill him on the spot. Hell, maybe torture him like he did Colby!"

Sam lifted his head, meeting her gaze. She seemed so determined, a fiery, fierce gaze burning in her eyes. He sighed aloud again. "What do we do? Do we follow the note to the next path?"

Solaris sighed next, staring her pacing pattern again. "I think that's all we can do.. Either that or wait hours, merely hoping we get a text from Ace.. And who knows how long that could take."

Silence filled the empty void between conversations. His blue eyes stared mostly at the paper, telling them to go to the abandoned barn they found last year. He stifled a sigh. "Let's go, Solaris," he finally said, standing up from his desk.

**

Kale paced the metal cage. Colby was untied and sitting lifeless in his chair, staring at the floor, repeating the words: Im useless, worthless, and invalid over and over. An evil smirk planted across the male's face. He awaited a text message from Ace, his partner in crime, to say that Sam and Solaris were on their wild goose chase.

Everything is falling right into place, he thought, an evil glint right in his eye. Sam and Solaris are falling for the traps, soon enough, I'll have Sam all to myself. It is truly the end of an old era, and a start of a new one.

Yanderes weren't relevant at this time, but if there was any other word to use to describe the blood-thirsty male, it was definitely yandere. Kale's head twitched slightly as he pulled himself back to reality. Glancing down at the brunette, he chuckled lowly and darkly.

"I've won," he growled, "it's over Colby Brock. Sam is mine after a few weeks of a chase. You'll be dead and I'll be the only one there for him."

A buzz in his pocket snapped his gaze from the victim to his phone. He pulled it out of his pocket, seeing the text message from Ace that Sam and Solaris are at the abandoned barn.

"Perfect.."

**

Solaris has an uneasy feeling as they entered the dark barn. She ran her hand through her long, brown hair, clenching onto Sam for life. Her heart beat extremely fast, so fast you could hear it as it bounced through the empty barn.

"Why are we here again?" Her voice was small and terrified. For someone who is normally cool in the face of danger, Solaris couldn't get the eerie feeling off her back.

"Because we were told to come here," Sam answered lowly, continuing to walk forward.

"Finally you two are here." Another voice in the building caused them both to jump. Swiftly, they both turned around, seeing none other than Ace in front of them.

"What the hell, why didn't you tell us about this!" The blonde yelled loudly.

"I have my reasons," the other male answered meekly. "The main reason was because Kale is catching on fast. But Sam, he did leave you, you specifically, something." Ace pulled out a bloody knife from behind his back, a small note on it.

Sam looked back and forth between Solaris and Ace. Solaris had the most eerie and unsettling feeling in her gut.

This isn't good, she thought as she watched him take the note off the knife and open it.

"Read it aloud."

" Dearest Samuel Golbach," he started, his voice shaking with fear. "I see you've found my first clue, a knife covered with the blood of Colby from a stab wound right in his thigh. Yes, by now you've probably figured out, I have your precious Colby Brock, but I will not tell you where we are located, for somethings are best left private.. I'm here to tell you you're next clue.. Or located if you will.. Hehe.. Go to the abandoned warehouse for your next bit of information.."

Sam looked up to look at Ace, but he was long gone. His blue, terrified gaze transferred over to Solaris, who looked equally as scared.

"He has Colby.." His voice broke, cracked as tears welled in his eyes. "What do we do, Solaris."

She remained silent for a moment. She knew where Kale was located, and she wanted nothing than to help the distressed male out, but she was scared that Kale would straight up kill her if she brought him..

Solaris finally spoke up with the most logical thing to do. "We go to the abandoned warehouse..."
