Demi opened her eyes all of a sudden. She didn't know why but she felt like something was not alright.
She sat up and turned the bedside table light on.
It was 4:30 AM.
She started rubbing her right eye with the back of her hand as she tried to figure out what the hell was going on.
"Hermosa?" She heard her husband groaning. She turned around to look at him. His eyes were half open.
"Sorry for waking you up, babe" Demi apologized. Wilmer sat up too while he let out a sigh followed by a yawn.
"It's okay but... Why is my beautiful wife awake?" He asked, already wrapping his arms around her and making her lay down again as he rested his head on her chest.
She smiled, placed a kiss on the top of his head and ran her hands through his dark hair.
"I don't know babe... I feel like something is going on but I really don't know what it is..." Demi explained. Wilmer closed his eyes.
"I'm sure it's nothing"
But he spoke too soon because, they both heard how something fell on the ground downstairs.
Demi immediately got scared.
"Babe... Did you hear that?" She asked. "Ma- Maybe it's a thief" She stuttered then.
Wilmer immediately got out of the bed.
"I'll go to check" He stated.
"Wait for me" Demi quickly added, leaving her fears away just because she did not want that something bad happened to her husband.
The couple headed downstairs and once they reached the living room, they turned the lights on.
But it was definitely not a thief.
It was their oldest daughter. The sixteen year old Melody.
"Melody?!" They both gasped.
The girl immediately got nervous.
"Mom, dad I can explain..." She mumbled.
Demi crossed her arms on her chest while Wilmer gave his daughter a death glare.
"You better do" He said.
"Well... I... Um..." Melody realized she was in trouble.
"Where the fuck were you?" Demi asked in an angry tone of voice.
"At... A... A party, mom" The girl spoke, not brave enough to look her mother in the eye.
"Oh, and why weren't we invited?" Wilmer asked causing his daughter to roll her dark eyes.
"You guys are old, okay?"
"You, young lady, are in serious trouble. You know that, right?" Wilmer added then.
"Yeah, your father is right. You could've asked us if you could go to that party..."
"You are grounded for at least 2 weeks" Wilmer added.
"Or 3" Demi said.
Melody pulled an annoyed expression on her face.
"But..."
"No buts" Demi cut her daughter off. "Go to bed now. Good night... or should I say good morning?"
Melody rolled her eyes again and went upstairs, leaving her parents alone.
"Gosh... You're a tough mother, aren't you?" Wilmer giggled, wrapping an arm around his wife's waist.
"I definitely am. I don't want my baby to turn into a partying girl..."
"But you were"
"Same to you" She poked his nose.
"I wasn't a girl"
Demi looked at him with one eyebrow raised.
"You know what I mean, silly"
"I know..." He giggled. "We should talk to her tomorrow about partying" He said, being serious again.
Demi smiled at his idea. Being a mother was easier if he was by her side.
"Yeah, you're right. So she doesn't commit the same faults that we did..."
"Yes, nena... "
"Now let's go to sleep" She yawned and he kissed her lips before going back to bed.
