Chapter 12

"Seriously, stop already! We are not soulmates Alana!"

"Um, yes, you are. You're just in denial. Don't worry, you'll realize soon enough." I said while inspecting my nails, glancing from time to time at an annoyed Trent looking exasperatedly at me. Yawning, I watched from the corner of my eye how Trent was glaring.

"I'm done." He sighed and lifted his arms in surrender. I rolled my eyes at his antics and turned around, ready to convince this time Kathie that they are soulmates.

After a while, we convinced Trent to come home for a day or two, my mom telling him we missed him. Not really. I actually love when I'm home alone or with my friends, and Trent always telling me off to my mom is something I hate but he does it anyway. Even though my mom is like the most awesome mom in the whole universe, she still doesn't like it when I use kitchen stuff to make pranks. That is not fair. The kitchen has the best material for pranks. Eggs, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, cheese...

Singing a tune, I strolled down the stairway, finding Kathie in the living room, her feet bunched up on the couch and her mouth full of popcorn. She would chew the popcorn, then grab another claw-size stash of salty popcorn and stuff them into her mouth. This continued for a few times until she finally got her eyes off the screen that was playing the re-runs of Supernatural and looked at me.

"What?" she asked, her question muffled by the snack. Sighing, I plopped next to her, getting my own stash of popcorn from the bowl in the middle.

"What is going on?" I nodded towards the screen. "Shh," she silenced me, her hand flying to my mouth. Watching with wide eyes, she inspected how Dean dies once again.

He's like a cat, I swear to Chuck.

Rolling my eyes, I swatted her hand away from my mouth, slumping my shoulders and munching on the popcorn.

Suddenly, like a thunder from a clear sky, the TV turned off.

"Hey!" we both shouted. It was still the scene where Sam is mourning Dean, and I need to know what will happen next!

Not that you don't know.

A voice said to me from a corner of my mind.

"Damnit!" a swear was heard from the kitchen. "Girls," my mom hollered. "The electricity is down. Don't worry."

Puffing a breath, I went through my hair with my hand. Kathie mimicked my actions and then stood up. Looking at her with raised eyebrows, my curiousity perked up when I saw the wicked glint in her eye.

"What?" I asked tentatively. When I'm the one with a glint, then it's a prank. A full blown, original prank. But if Kathie has that evil glint, then it's a different sort of a prank from the one kind I'm used to.

A prank call. I know, we're like some middle schoolers. But come on, prank calls are always funny.

Realizing this, I broke off in a smile. Excitedly standing up, I grabbed my phone from the table and hurried upstairs, Kathie hot on my heels. I turned to my room, opening the door and letting Kathie in, then effectively locking it.

You see, I know that I probably have the courage of a lion, but when a electricity problem is present, and my room is kind of really creepy in the dark, I can't help but have chills running down my back. Gulping quite loudly, I lighted the room with the light of my phone, sighing in relief as I saw that my batery was 80 percents full.  Definitely a good luck day. Hurriedly sitting on the carpeted floor, Kathie followed suite.
