First, it had been Roman who showed up.
Roman and Virgil huddled together as they walked down the corridor to their bunker. It seemed like every shadow, every misheard sound, every sharp footstep, was jumping out to attack them. Every corner they turned they looked for Patton and every room in the mindspace made them shake with terror. But they had each other, so surely nothing could go wrong, right?
With his creative Ideas and new inventions, Thomas was being creative earlier than anyone ever really thought.
Roman and Virgil finally got into the bunker, carefully sliding into bed and trying to sleep. Virgil couldn't, his nerves and anxiety were too high to ever let him sleep. Roman didn't sleep a wink either. He had to protect his fairest.
Then, It had been Patton.
Patton moved swiftly without Logan seeing him, covering everything he'd done up. Burning the body, the weapon, and clothes. Slipping through the halls of the mind space like a shadow or a ghost.
With his childishness and knowledge of what was right and what was wrong, Thomas learnt the difference between good and bad early on.
Patton crawled down a hall, and into his room. He wanted to stop what he was about to do but he couldn't. It wasn't him in there anymore, oh no, it wasn't the sweet innocent Patton we've all loved for so long. It was something else in his eyes, his mind and body-something else in his souls and his heart. Something...terrifyingly humane. Something like a monster. Or, perhaps, a Yandere.
Then came Logan.
Logan wandered the halls of the library, holding a candle and squinting to read the book titles. He scoured the shelves, slinking in the night light he'd grown very used to reading in, like a silent shadow in the woods or a fox following its prey.
He knew maths, and writing, and he was smart-So Thomas was smart, and Thomas did well in school.
Logan followed the shelves, knowing exactly where he was going. If something really was wrong, it would cover it-this book knew everything, after all: it was what dictated Thomas, and the sides, and what kept them from messing up. It was, one could say, a form of Thomas' subconscious. And it was going to make Logan okay.
But there was something else that Logan did.
It was going to reassure him. Nothing was wrong, and Patton was fine.
Something really....
That's it. Everything was fine. Everything was going to be okay. He was fine. Patton was fine. Hey could continue on.
...amazing.
Logan stopped. The candle flickered, and then died. He tried to calm his breathing, and shivered as a sense of nerve flooded over his now shaking body. He struggled to get the candle back on, relaxing when it did. It was okay. He was okay.
He made Patton fall in love with him.
Logan continued wandering again, before coming to a long ladder and stepping on it to test its endurance. When it didn't snap, he decided to begin his climb, and held the candle, still lit, in one hand as he climbed the ladder.
It was everything about him-his movements, his smile, his eyes and his maturity-it all made Patton love him more.
One step after another, Logan kept climbing.
