"Thank you d-daddy," I say crumbling under the pressure of his gaze.

"Good girl," he says kissing my forehead. "Now that we have that out of the way, do you mind telling me why you didn't want to hang out with me and my friends?" he grabs my wrists in a tight hold, "are we not good enough for you, baby girl?".

I let out a whimper when he does this. I hate it when he is angry.

"I was working,"I look back down at my feet. "and your friends are ass holes," I say.

he chuckles and releases my wrists, but only so he could wrap his arms around my waist.

"I know that darling, believe me," he says.

"Why don't you ditch them then get some real friends?" I ask

"Would you be included in this new group of friends?" he asks.

   "Nope,"I say popping the "p".

"Why not?" he says his voice sounded annoyed.

"Because you don't want to be friends with me,"I say stating the truth.

There is a pause before he answers like he was trying to figure out what to say.

"You're too smart for your own good, Evy," he says letting me go.

He walks up the stairs onto another level of the library. I collect myself and rush to the bottom of the stairs going to the second-floor bathroom. I lock the door behind me and start to cry.

What the hell was that?! Why can't he make up his damn mind? Does he hate me? Are we friends again? Why does he want to intimidate me all the time?

All of these questions enter my mind. I slid to the floor and just let it all out. after a moment I get a text from lyn saying she needed help at the cafe. I get off the floor and walk over to the sink. I splash my face with water and dry it with a paper towel. I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I do reapply my mascara. I look myself over in the mirror until im satisfied that I didn't look like I just had an emotional breakdown.

I exit the bathroom and make my way up the stairs to the third-floor cafe. lyn was there with a line of people at the register. Oh, god. this is going to be a long day. I go grab my apron and help lyn with the customers. Alyssa showed up for work as well to help. at least we have back up.

"Hey beautiful," says a boy around my age. he had red hair, green eyes, freckles, and dimples.

"What will you have today?" I ask trying to get over him hitting on me.

"Your number," he says with a cocky grin.

   Whats with that line?

"Not on the menu," I say for the second time today.

   but that doesn't detour him.

"Then let me give you mine." he offers getting out a pen.

"Sir if you aren't going to order then get out of line I have a lot of people waiting," I say in my business tone hoping he would get the gist.

"I'll take a hot chocolate," he says grabbing a napkin and writing down his number.

He hands me the napkin and smiles.

"You do know that im throwing this away once you leave right?" I ask trying to see how stupid this kid is.

"It was worth a shot. If you do decide to keep the number don't be afraid to call," he says shrugging.
