Class was more stressful than usual. I was panicking the entire time, worrying someone would figure it out. I didn't have Zander in my first hour, which was English. Typically I loved this class but I was too stressed to focus on the reading assignment. My teacher noticed because he asked me to stay after class. Mr. Haring was every teenage girl's wet dream, not mine obviously, he had the whole cute English teacher thing going on. Well dressed, slight stubble, nice hair that was short on the sides and longer on top. He had these entrancing green eyes... was I talking about something?
Oh yeah, he asked me to stay after class. I pack my bag but stay in my seat. I get a few dirty glares from one or two of the girls exiting the class. One tried to stay after class as well, feigning questions about the assignment. He quickly dismissed her by saying that he posted the assignment online and sent her on her way. He locked his door so no students would walk in. Without anyone else here having the door locked made me extremely nervous.
He walks over to the desk in front of me and sits backward in the chair so he is facing me. "How are you feeling Elvira? You seemed a little stressed during class. Is it your dad again?" He asks placing his hand on mine. I pull my hand out from under his. "Not exactly, he decided to go to a rehab center. So you know it might be a month or five till he comes back home." I tell Mr. Haring.
His head goes to the side. "Well, then where have you been staying these past few weeks? If you need a place to stay, my guest room is always ope-" I cut him off by standing and putting on my bag. "I'm sorry sir, but that was very inappropriate of you to say. I'm fine I'm staying with a friend and if you'll excuse me I need a pass for my next class because I am now late".
He breathes in and stands. He is quite taller than me, maybe even as tall as Zander. "Of course, my apologies. I was out of line. I just care for my star student is all. Now let me get you that pass." He goes over to his desk and scribbles out a pass for me. "Here you go, Missy. Better get to class now." He says putting his hand on my back to usher me to the door. But his hand slips a little lower, and lower. I try to step away before he got too close to my ass, but it was too late. He pinched my butt and I turn around to face him. Surprise filled his face, then a sleazy smile crept onto his lips. I snatch the pass from his hand and then rush to the door. I turn the handle and rush out. Well, I would have if a wall of muscle hadn't been in my way.I look up and there was Zander with a smirk on his face. His face suddenly goes sour as he sees how shaken I was. I calmly take a step back. "W-what are you doing here? Won't Mrs. Hugh's count you absent?" I ask walking further into the hall. "Yes Mr. Grayson, shouldn't you be in class?" Asks Mr. Haring. Zander squares his shoulders and looks challengingly at Mr. Haring. "Actually, sir, she sent me out to find Evy, just in case she needed some assistance." Alexander wraps his arm around me and pulls me closer to him. Mr. Haring looks a little annoyed at this. "Well you have her now, so why don't you get to class," we Beguin to leave when Mr. Haring says, "oh, and Elvira, please see me after school. That's all, have a nice day". With that he closes his door, I guess that this was his free period because no one was waiting outside of the class to be let in.
Walking towards our second hour Zander stops me. "So, why did he keep you after class?" He turns me to face him. I don't look him in the eye. "Nothing just asked why I was gone for two weeks." I really wasn't in the mood to tell him. I was still freaking out and I didn't need him to start a fight with a teacher. "Elvira, tell me the truth. Should I go back there and beat the shit out of that son of a bitch?" He says gripping my arms tightly.
"It's not worth it. Really it was nothing, I was probably being overdramatic." I still refuse to look him in the eye.
He loosens his grip on my arms and brings one of his hands to my chin, he slowly and gently liftse my chin to face him. "Don't ever say that you are being overdramatic when you feel physically threatened. Especially when it's a person that holds authority over you. Just because you didn't come out with a mark doesn't mean that what he did wasn't wrong or your feelings are any less valid." He pulls me in for a hug and pets my hair.
"I-I'm okay, I just don't want to talk about it at the moment. Can we please just go to class?" He takes a deep breath. I know that he was trying to calm himself down for my sake. "Okay, but I'm going in with you when you talk to him. NO arguments." He releases me from the hug and takes my hand. "Come on, let's go to class". He holds my hand as we walk down the hallway.
His hand was tight and warm around mine, I couldn't help but compare it to a safety blanket. I kinda just walked on autopilot, not really paying attention. We reached the staircase that lead up to the second and third floor of my school. I made the first few steps successfully, but I ended up tripping on the fourth step. That step was infamous for being a quarter-inch, or about a centimeter, taller than the others. This often made the kids not paying attention trip because of the slight difference.
Luckily my face had not met the fate of all the others because Zander had caught me. "Careful there, you forgot the tricky one." He pulls me up and we walk slower up the stairs to avoid further incident. "I've always hated Harold". I say absentmindedly. "Harold?" Zander gives me an inquisitive look. "Yeah, Harold the tricky step. He likes to play pranks on unsuspecting newbies and people that aren't paying attention. You won this time Harold." I say turning around and curse the fourth step. Zander laughs at my silliness. "You're a goober." He says pulling me up the rest of the way onto the second floor. "Nuh-uh. I am in fact a dork. Get it right." I and Zander giggle as we make our way to class. The Mr. Haring incident almost was forgotten, almost.

Do you think he noticed anything?
Is Zander going to kick the ever-living shit out of him?
Who knows?! Hell, I don't think I do at this point.
