The next day, Tammy came back to try to give Lillian lessons again. "We can just focus on you today," Tammy said. "I'm taken care of."

They tried slouching again. Nothing. She tried messing up her hair. Nothing. She tried eating a red- hot pepper. It popped right back out of her mouth. Finally, she tried falling down the stairs again. She landed on her feet again.

Mrs. Thomas wanted to know what they were doing. "Tammy's trying to show me how to be abnormal," said Lillian. "Oh, Lillian, don't you see? You are abnormal," Mrs. Thomas said. "I am?" Lillian asked, surprised.

"What other family out there is as perfect as we are?" Said Mrs. Thomas. "It's almost weird that we're so perfect. Before I married your father, I was bored. I did what everyone else did. When I became a Thomas, everything always works out for me. I have no more fears. It's fun being a Thomas, because I'm finally weird. Abnormal. Irregular."

Her mother was right!

"Thanks, Tammy, but Mom's right," she said. "Being perfect is abnormal. Weird. Irregular." "And thank you, Lillian, but she's right about me, too," said Tammy. She leaned forward and messed up her hair. "Being as unlucky as I am, I'm weird, too. Thanks for trying, but I like being me."

Lillian decided that she loved being a Thomas.
