The Avengers and co. were at Wakanda, celebrating the defeat of Thanos. Old memories were laughed at, toasts were made, it was as peaceful as a palace full of drunk superheroes and underage memers could get.

"I am Groot." Groot mumbled as he spoke with Shuri in her lab.

"Of course we are. I made everything." Shuri boasted as her lips twisted upward.

"You can understand him?" Rocket almost yelled out of shock as he checked on Groot, a little worried if he was uncomfortable or not. "You've known him for less than a day!"

"The bonding of Vines and Memes, my good friend." She simply answered. "Don't tell me you guys don't know what Vine is."

"Can't say that we do." Rocket confessed as he picked up what looks like an earpiece, which he put back down when Shuri hissed at him.

"I am Groot."

"Who's Quill?" Shuri asked. "One of you're friends?"

"He's a cocky little asshat that 'leads' our little bunch." Rocket scoffed, rolling his eyes. His face immediately softened, worried about where he might be.

"I'll be upstairs. Groot, don't be a dick."

Rocket could overhear some of the conversation as he walked up the stairs with his small legs. Something about making adjustments to their ship, which he wouldn't mind.

If the Milano at least gets here.

He sighed as he looked over the party. It was full of people he didn't know. He wished that Peter was here, so they could get drunk together and try to outdo each other. Or Drax, so he could make a fool out of himself, making Rocket laugh.

Damn, he misses his family.

His eyes locked onto Thor, who was outside on a balcony, probably watching the sun set.

He paused for a second, before walking up to him.

"Hey, man." He said simply, making Thor jump.

"Oh it's just you, Rabbit." He sighed, smiling. Clearly fake.

"Guessing these parties aren't what you're used to?" Rocket asked, making small talk.

"No, not really." Thor turned his body to face him. "The drinks are usually way stronger, and we talk about the many battles we faced."

"A bunch of drunk dudes monologuing," Rocket paused. "Definitely sounds interesting."

Thor chuckled. "Well, I mean, you're not wrong. It is quite the sight." A moment in silence. "So who exactly the leader of your group?" He asked hoping to change the subject. He didn't want to talk about how things used to be, before his coronation a couple years ago. Everything that happened happened so fast, and he's still processing that his entire family is dead. He didn't want to think about it.

Rocket got the cue and simply answered. "Everyone believes it's Quill. You know, the chubby guy mocking you? Well I don't think we exactly have a leader. We just do our part."

"Ah," Thor nodded, understanding. "So how is it like being with that Quill guy?" He asked.

When the Guardians found him, he was awfully stunned. Sure, he was in a ship with a bunch of strangers and the last thing he saw was his dead brother, but he was mostly shocked by Peter among the group for two reasons. One, because he's a Midgardian, and Stark said that Earth doesn't exactly have spaceships like the Milano. Two, because Peter was majorly cute.

Throughout most of the trip to Nidelavir, when Thor wasn't thinking about his dead people, he was thinking about the smart-talking, badass mortal. His strawberry blonde hair was in a clean cut with sideburns, which he thought was nice. Sure, he was a little chubby, but Thor found it adorable. Not to mention his sense of style was another aspect that peaked Thor's interest.
