■■■■

I looked up and saw a pair of familiar faces smiling down at me. Smiles filled with what I could only describe as pure and raw love. I felt something sprout within me. It felt like true happiness. I laughed and smiled back.

For a reason unbeknownst to me, I felt deprived of these feelings.

We were walking. Seemingly heading nowhere, until the dark setting around us suddenly morphed into a cross-section. Then a crosswalk stop sign flashed across my vision. We began walking.

I felt a dreadful sense of déjà vu hit me. This isn't possible. This is the first time I've experienced this... Right?

A strong force pulled me back. My arms failed about as I fell.

In the second that I fell I could also make out two distinct figures going forward. They were falling too.

I could feel my head colliding with the sidewalk. Tears pricked my eyes.

"----- why would you do tha---" As if in slow motion, I saw a car heading towards them. They stared at its headlight's with wide eyes.

They froze up. They didn't even have time to react.

The car hit them and they went flying. Only it didn't happen slowly. It happened in an instant.

The car zoomed away, and as soon as their bodies touched the ground, my surroundings swirled and changed. I could hear the echoes of people yelling and screaming everywhere. Even after everything became pitch black.

Then, another vision formed.
I had transitioned from sitting and crying to running and sobbing.

"WHY? GOD! I HATE YOU SO MUCH!" I kept yelling and groaning in despair in between every sentence.

I was a tiny seed compared to everyone else in this cruel planet, so God abandoned me.

The world once again distorted itself and faded away.

I awoke with a slight jerk. My heart was racing, and my body felt so tense and stiff. It felt like tiny needles were poking my entire body. I let out a sigh.

"Just a dream." I whispered.

I blinked twice and noticed that my eyelashes felt... wet. I reached up and let my fingers graze the area under my eyes. Was I crying?

I ran to my bathroom and turned on the light. My eyes were slightly swollen, but that could've been mistaken for tiredness. The tell to this "mystery" were my tear streaked cheeks.

I pinched my face up in annoyance. I'm such a freak. I wiped the tears away very carefully, and made sure that there were no signs of them even being there. I looked at my watch and saw that it was still early in the morning.

I left the bathroom and went downstairs. My stomach rumbled, so I made my way towards the kitchen. Expecting my guardian to be there, I tip toed, being as quiet as I could. I was planning on scaring him.

I went in only to find a sticky note stuck neatly on the fridge.

I read it aloud. "Went on a business trip, left money in the special drawer. See you in two weeks princess. Love George." As dissapointed as I felt about not being able to scare him, I breathed a sigh of relief. He wouldn't have to see my swollen eyes and question me. I crumpled the note up and threw it in the garbage.

I poured myself a glass of cold water, grabbed leftover chicken nugget salad from inside the fridge, and went upstairs.

I made myself comfy on my window seat, put my bowl of salad on my legs, and began watching some random movie on my tablet.

I have a few hours before I need to get ready for work.

After all, this is summer break.

My eyes were beginning to get heavy, so I decided to stand up and stretch. A long yawn left my mouth as I did so.

Jesus, what time is it--- oh crap. My watch read four in the afternoon.

Time sure does fly. I had to get ready for work, or else I'd have to deal with whiny and dissapointed customers. Those are some of the worst kind.

I went into my closet and took a long gander at my getup. It was so skimpy it couldn't even be called clothes.

I went back into my room after changing. Cold air was hitting my bare skin all over.

"As embarrassing as this is, the air feels nice." I said to no one in particular.

I took my things out from the drawers under my window seat.

I shut the curtains and turned off the lights.

"Hmmm. I feel like I'm forgetting--- ah. The lights." I ran out the room and turned to my left. I walked down the hall and opened a closet.

This also happened to be a walk-in closet, only it was a lot bigger than the one inside my room. I took out the light equipment and took it back to my room.

I set the lights up and locked my door. Once I felt as if I'd done everything properly I cleared my throat and smiled. Just before the timer went off I whispered out two words.

"Show time".

I know that this chapter was repetitive with its words, but meh. Prologues are sort of a backstory to books, and they're meant to forward the plot. This information will all be useful for you to know.

Y'know, not every single thing that happened, but yeah!
Hope you liked this chapter.

G'bye! See ya some other time.
