Kakashi knocked on the door so loudly he managed to wake both of us up, and I stumbled to the door whilst Naruto fell back to sleep.

"Here." he said whilst pushing a big box into my arms, nearly toppling me over. "it's some of your parents old stuff, and we thought you two would like it."

I stared at the box, and it was as if time stopped, and all I could think of was them. The parents I'd never had.

"Go. You and Naruto will just have to work twice as hard tomorrow, but you'll be closer. He needs you, so go." He said, and I could sense a smile under the mask.

I stuttered. "I...I...er...th...thank you..."

"Go." he spun me round, pushed me back into the hall and closed the door. The noise woke Naruto up and I heard him squeal and fall out of his chair.

"Who was that?!" he shouted as he clambered from the floor and stumbled into the hall.

I look at him. "This is what we have left of them. Of our parents."

We both sat in the hallway and studied each piece so carefully, drinking in the smell and sight of them. We found pictures, books, some clothing, jewellery and old trinkets. Our Dads spare cloak was there, the red flames and writing looking more familiar by the second. One of our mothers necklaces with held a small flower, and there were some books which had small cuttings or writing round the edges. These few small things meant so much to both of us, and by the end of the day we had put up every single photograph and frame around the house, every book placed somewhere, every trinket stored on a shelf, cabinet or bedside table. The cloak we hung on a chair, unsure where to put it and preferring to keep it close to both of us. I wore the necklace, and Naruto wore a plain silver bracelet with the inscription 'naruto' on it, and likewise I wore one with my name. Our mother had them made before we were born, that we're going to be for our first birthday, Jiraiya told us later on in the month.

I felt our parents personalities come alive, I could almost picture them around us that day and the feeling was surreal. I finally felt like I had been pieced together, just by a few possessions and old memories. That was the start of an entirely new beginning for us, we had been brought together more than I could have ever hoped.

That was the night I saw them. That was the night I saw not only them, but the nine tails. They took over my entire being and one of the only images in my mind was them dying. Them dying and Naruto and I being torn apart from the scene and each other. The deep, rusty voice of the nine tails played over and over until I answered, and the laughter of the manic beast rippled through me. I woke up screaming, realising he had not only played with my emotions and memories- but that he was also in my mind.

I could talk with the nine tails.
