Lucas (P.O.V)
I gave Annabel a slight nod before sprinting out of the living room to find Ashley. It was so stupid of me to think that Ashley getting jealous was a good thing. Why didn't I just tell her how I felt? I guess I chickened out, but this is a smoking, hot, firebreathing vampire it's not some small highschool crush, surely that's okay.
'I can't breathe fire, but keep going. I'm loving the compliments.' I jumped and swept round to face Ashley sat on the stairs. Her red eyes were glowing in the darkness like fireflies, studying me from head to toe. A playful smile on her lips as she watched my heartbeat raise and my mouth open.
'You heard everything that happened in the living room, didn't you?' I sighed. She stood up and wandered over to me. Something felt wrong.
'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have lied to you it's just that-'
'Shh.' Ashley interrupted me. I raised an eyebrow as her eyes moved but her head stayed completely still.
'Wh-' I tried again but she swiftly put a finger to her mouth. I didn't understand what was happening. Toby, who must have woken up from Ashley snapping his neck, slowly wandered from the kitchen to the stairs, accompanied by Emma. Their faces full of confusion when Ashley angrily looked at them. Annabel loudly made her way out of the living room to find us all stood in one place. She halted immediately.
'Emma, where the hell is Elliot?' Ashley spat in a whisper. Her eyes pure blood red with anger. Emma was startled by her sister's behaviour and shivered from the bitter gaze she was sending her.
'He went outside.' She replied worriedly, her lip quivering, although we had no reason to panic yet. Ashley took two steps toward her sister and squared up to her. "Someone's here." Was all she said before she sped out the door with her vampire speed. The others quickly followed until it was just Annabel and I.
'What's going on?' Annabel asked, as if I had any clue. There was a yell and we both ran outside, unable to answer the question. It was then when Annabel and I noticed Ashley, Toby and Emma circling like vultures around a menacing looking man who was grasping Elliot by the neck. The little boy was kicking violently at the smirking man but it was no use. He was much stronger.Ashley was the first to move, she slammed into the man, knocking him off guard and making him crash to the floor. Emma raced to Elliot who was no longer in his hands. The man launched up quickly to his feet, and then lifted his shirt sleeve. He mumbled something into what looked like a glowing bracelet.
I was the only human involved so I decided to stand back and not take part in this one. I was pretty sure, even though I got healed from sparring, I still had a dislocated shoulder.
"Why are you here?!" Ashley spat, as she flicked her hands and fire sparked from them. Balls of fire layed there in waiting, ready to be thrown. The man's eyes admired the flames.
"How I would love to get my hands on that!" He exclaimed, meeting her eyes with a grin. Ashley just laughed it off.
"Well, you can." She stated, as she sprinted at him at full force. He was reunited with the floor again, his bones crunched and Ashley pinned him down. The fire in her hands burning his to a crisp as he screamed.
"Why are you here?!" Ashley repeated, squeezing the man's hands. He yelled in agony and then spat at the grass.
"I came on my own. I've always wanted an element for myself, and since Elliot is the easiest to kill I thought that it would come in useful." Ashley started to go absolutely insane. The ground beneath her started to ooze up lava. She couldn't feel it, but he certainly could. Emma quickly let go of Elliot, stepped forward and swept the man up from the lava with air, before it incinerated him. Toby sprinted to Ashley to put out the fire before it burnt the mansion down. Emma kept the man up for as long as she could before he eventually fell to the ground. Gasping for air the man got up, chuckled, and pressed a button on his bracelet. Ashley reacted and shot forward but it was no use, the man disappeared into nothing but air particles. She cursed and kicked the grass in defeat. We all stood not knowing if we should say anything. Luckily, Toby broke the tension."He felt a lot of pain and most likely won't come back." He remarked joyfully, which I found oddly creepy.
"I don't understand why he would come to our house, on his own, knowing he would lose. It was like he was purposely trying to lose and get our attention." Ashley continued. There was silence for a while until she spoke up again."It was a distraction for something else." She turned to face us and looked at us all one by one before realising. "Where the hell is Elliot?" Her eyes turned pure velvet as fire emerged from her irises. We all whipped around and noticed he was nowhere to be seen.
'Elliot is gone. Our poor young baby brother is gone! They took him.' She shrieked. Her eyes were glued on Annabel, who had just stood there and forgotten everything she was capable of. "It's all your fault that he's gone! You are the Protector of The Four and where were you? Huh?!' Ashley furiously stormed up to her. A tear ran down her cheek but as it did, it lit up on fire like petrol. Her hands sparked, flames flickered in her palm and fingers. Toby reacted quickly, ran up to her and put his hands in hers, before she struck Annabel. The fire sizzled and disappeared.
Thank god for Poseidon, am I right?
