Of all the days Layla dreaded the highest on her list had to be the day before school resumed after winter break. After staying inside with the lit chimney for the past two weeks, she dreaed having to face school again. It wasn't that she disliked school, she just wasn't a fan of having to wake up early and coming home late. It also didn't help that she was an introvert who loved to stay inside her bubble. Her sister was the extrovert and social butterfly. Layla was lucky to have included into het sister's clique otherwise she would have been a loner, sitting in the corner of every room.

Layla sighed, leaning her head against the window of her dad's car. She was going to miss staying with her dad. The two of them bonded more and he actually gave her her privacy by letting her stay in her room, without nagging.

Her time with her dad was cut short and she had to come back to reality. She had waited until the night before to come home and as they rode through town she regretted it. If she had returned the day before she could have gotten her errands done and could have slept the day away.

"Honey, you alright there? You aren't falling asleep on me yet?" the voice of her dad snapped her out of her thoughts and she turned to him with a small smile.

"I'm still wide awake, just thinking," she told him as she looked back out of the window at the full moon. It was beautiful this night.

"About?"

Layla sighed gripping on to her seatbelt. "The last few months of my Sophomore year. I hope it's way better than the first half," she said, looking at him as he glanced over to her.

"It will be, honey. You'll have Lydia by your side like every time," he said and Layla rolled her eyes. Having Lydia by her side isn't as great as people make it out to be.

"Speaking of Lydia. Why do you think she wanted to return so early?" the man asked his daughter. Layla shrugged, as she tried to suppress a yawn that tried to escape.

"I guess it has something to do with her boyfriend," Layla told him and the man hummed. "I am not a fan of that young man."

"No one is, dad."

The man turned to look at his daughter. "The day you find yourself a boyfriend I want to be the first person to meet him," he said and Layla wanted to laugh at how absurd that sounded. "Do you really think I'd be able to find myself a boyfriend?"

"Yes, you are beautiful and very intelligent."

"Yes and yes but I think you forgot one important factor. I'm a disaster when it comes to make conversation," Layla said and her dad laughed. "I mean, you're. . .decent."
