practice surprise

Today is Monday and I'm at the studio waiting for all the girls to show up, we're only waiting for two of them and they usually ride together. As they arrive I start telling everyone about how many routines there are going to be at our next show, and what they are and the songs at what not.

Since I only have one group and one solo, I decided to teach the group first and whoever is learning it quicker will get the solo. When I teach them any dance I always show them the whole thing first then we get started. Every time we learn a group dance everyone knows whoever is learning faster will get the solos for the next show.

One of my dancers realized I had less dances at the begging of the week than I normally do so she asked me about it. And I just told her that on Saturday I decided to take a day off since I had a solo and was more worn out than usual. Which obviously wasn't true and I felt kinda bad for lying but at the same time I don't think I should talk about something if it technically isn't anything yet.

Around 6:00 we all took a lunch break and all my girls started talking to each other and running around and I was in my office so I was just kinda like whatever I'm just gonna eat and figure out some more dances. So I opened up my MacBook Air and started looking at our dances from our show on Friday because after lunch we always watch them as they digest their food. One of my girls named Ashley come up to my desk and says all giddy and happy and jumpy "someone's here for you". She wouldn't stop jumping and smiling and I was honestly kinda scared. I asked who and she told me to go to the front desk and I thought they were going to play some prank on me and so I got up terrified.

I turned the corner to the front office to Tom talking to my girls, I stood there in shock and mad at him for not telling me he was coming, I mean like what am I going to tell the girls. Tom saw me and said "Oh hi love there you are, your girls are just as lovely as you say they are."

"Tom, what are you doing here", one of my other older girls asked all happy and giddy "Um, coach, what is he doing here at all." I looked at Tom with the straightest face ever and he was smiling and looked at my and then looked like he didn't know why I was upset. I turned over to all of my girls who were now all waiting for an answer, I smiled and said "well I didn't want to tell you tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise because Tom is here to learn the group dance with you guys because he loves to make his fans happy. And I told him how much you guys all love him." Tom just looked up smiling and looked at me like "oh ok, I'm doing this now". Now girls after practice you guys can talk to him but I have to talk to him in my office real quick.

I pulled Tom into my office to talk to him about why in the hell he decided to just show up to my studio when he knows damn well I have practice.

"surprise !"

"Tom, you couldn't have shot me a warning text or anything, really !"

"Well, I knew if I did you would say no and I really wanted to see you in your aspect"

"You know you're going to have to learn the dance now right and we already started learning it and are almost down learning the group which is what you would have to learn"

"I saw you practicing it yesterday, I'm sure I can pick it up real quick"

"Okay, if you say so. So how it's going to work since they are eating right now after they eat we are going to watch the show from Friday and then we are going to keep practicing"

"Okay"

After lunch while they ate lunch and while they watched our dance from Friday me and Tom just chatted in my office about how he can't do this unless he warns me at least 3 days in advance. And after practice he wants to take me to dinner even though I have to be up early and so does he. I said no and he's just going to come to my house and stay there, but before we all leave for 30 minutes he and my girls are all going to hang out and talk and do whatever. So I will be cutting 30 minutes out of my practice for him and my girls, I'm doing it more for them than for him which is why It's fine.
