"How did you even do that?" I asked, tilting back on my interview chair. "Instantly appear on a tiny moving train I mean?"
The tall man who sat opposite me leaned closer over the table, his bright blue eyes deadly serious.
"We used..."
I held my breath.
"...Space-Time Ninjutsu."
All four legs of my chair landed on the floor in shock.
"No way..."
My interrogator nodded solemnly.
"Yes way."
"Oh for the love of...!" The normal, in this case giant-sized interrogator sent the two of us, particularly his partner, an exasperated glare. "Pretend to have at least a little maturity Peri, please."
The smaller man glanced up at his giant counterpart, who sat at a giant metallic table, with our identical miniature table on top of it.
"But Winkle..."
"Enough. You're wasting our time."
The two Supervisors looked almost identical to each other, sharing the same sharp features and tall, lanky frame.
If they were forced to remain silent, the only way to tell them apart would be Peri's long black hair. It was tied in a loose ponytail where Winkle's was cropped short.
"But Winkle..."
Winkle crossed his arms sternly.
"No excuses Peri. If you're going to explain something, do it properly."
"... You're right, Winkle." Peri gave the much larger Supervisor a look of admiration.
... Um, no that's still wasting time...
Personality-wise, Peri didn't seem the sort to take much seriously... Where Winkle...
"Listen, kid." Winkle's eyebrows twitched with badly concealed irritation and his efforts to be patient.
... Was far too serious.
"We Supervisors use nanotech to deconstruct then reconstruct our bodies at different scales. All we did to get on the train was have the microscopic machines deconstruct our bodies, move into the train, then reconstruct our bodies at the appropriate size." He explained, his jaw clenching as he waited for me to understand.
"....I don't get it." Both Peri and I said at the same time, both of us staring up at the giant in confusion.
"...It doesn't matter anyway." Winkle muttered robotically, the effort it took for him not to shout the words showing in his expression.
Winkle met my eyes with a strained grimace. "Now can we..."
"Why do you all have blue eyes?"
He blinked.
"What?"
"Everyone I've met at the Shrink Program has the same weird bright blue eye colour." I crossed my arms critically. "That's a bit suspicious if you ask me."
"Ah, that's just to show that our nano-tech is connected to Shrink Program's System," Peri answered with a cheerful grin.
I frowned, not really understanding.
"... If it's caused by Nano-tech... And you used that to shrink us..." I began hesitantly. "Then how come I don't have the freaky eyes?"
Winkle tapped a finger on the table, not quite able to contain his impatience.
