Chapter 9

It had been the next few weeks. We had extra classes after school, and more assignments piling up by the end  of the week. Our Autumn break was going to start at the end of next month and we had our exams before that, so we had a lot to study.

Since it was a friday, me and Amy were heading towards Ryan's house for a small study session so that we don't lag behind with our studies.

We reached his house in a couple of minutes, it was huge, cream and midnight blue, with a well kept lawn and their own patio pool.

Amy rang the doorbell and after a couple of seconds Ryan opened the door. He had a loose white sleeveless shirt and beige khaki shorts on. His dark brown hair a mess and a poptart in his hand.

"Thank you.", I said snatching the poptart from his hand.

"That's mine.", He said trying to take it back as I took a bite while we entered the house.

"Too late.", I said sticking my tongue out at him as he gave me a look.

"Guys, food can wait. We have to finish our work now if we want our weekend free."

"Ugh.", I said frowning.

"Let's study later please.", Said Ryan sitting on the couch next to me as I sat cross-legged and Amy sat opposite us.

"No way. After two hours.", Said Amy.

It was no point arguing with Amy, so we began studying. Half way through Ryan bought us some Nachos and oeros.

"Yayy !!",  I squealed seeing food. "Your officially my knight in shining armour.", I said dramatically and snatched the bowl from his hand making him roll his eyes.

"Atleast give me some.", He said taking some.

"Food is a temptation. I will not eat until I complete this.", Amy repeated to herself as I munched in front of her. She looked at me from the corner of her eye and frowned as I looked at her innocently.

"Fuck this.", She said and stole the bowl from me.

After two long tedious hours we finally finished our assignments, homework and whatever work we had left.

"Let's go out now, pleaseeee Ames. I'm so tired of studying."

"Yess Amy pretty please.", I said giving puppy eyes.

She rolled her eyes and shut her textbook, "Okay fine, only because I'm craving tacos."

"Taco bell it is.", Ryan said getting up and going to his room to wear his jacket and sneakers.

We left in a couple of minutes towards the Main Street.

"Did I tell you guys that even Aaron might like Emma ?", Ryan said.

"Ohh you got competition.", Amy said smirking.

"Is his little crush on her even going to last ?", I chuckled.

"Gosh, your talking about Ryan girl. Obviously not.", She said laughing making me giggle while Ryan frowned and walked ahead with his hands in his pocket.

"Aww Ry, we were just joking.", I said running towards him and wrapping my hands around his arm.

"Sure.", He said trying to pull away but I kept my hold.

"Boy we were just teasing youu. ", Amy said as we entered Taco bell.

"Whatever, Get me food.", He said adamantly like a kid.

"Cheesy Mexican fries and chicken tacos ?", I asked him.

"Yess.", He smiled hearing me. After we finished ordering and picking up the  takeout, we walked to the parking lot behind the stores.

It was almost sunset and there was a cool breeze. We sat on the bordering pillared railings with our legs off the ledge and opened our food and drinks.

The view from there was always gorgeous, with the swaying trees and the roofs of the houses at a distance below us as the parking lot was at a higher elevation. Sipping cola and watching the sunset was amazing. The sky was blue with its clouds covered with a golden yellow glow from the setting sun.

"It's beautiful.", I whispered taking a bite of the french fries.

"I fucking know right.", Said Amy staring at her half eaten taco, making us all laugh.

"But honestly speaking sunsets are so pretty.", I said.

"You haven't seen the sky during sunrise then.", Ryan said stretching making his muscles ripple.

"Who's going to wake up soo early ?", I said laughing.

"Well you should. Jogging before sunrise is like the best thing ever.", He said looking at me.

"Meh. I'm too lazy to get up early.", I said getting up to throw the empty packages.

"What's new ?", He chuckled and got off to help me.

"Let's get back.", Amy said stretching.

"Yeah, I'm tired.", I said rubbing my eyes and walking with them.

We crossed the road from the Main street and taking a right walked straight towards  our lane. It was getting dark as the sun had almost completely set, and we could see the bright crescent moon up in the sky. After walking a block, I began crossing the road without seeing and Ryan jerked me back just in time a car sped by.

"Fuck, please look and cross Nicole. You could've met with an accident.", He said a bit angry but mostly worried.

"What were you thinking while crossing.", Said Amy flicking my forehead.

"Ouch !", I yelped rubbing my forehead. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it, I'm just sleepy and it's getting dark." I said pouting.

"Oh my God !!!!",Amy said face-palming.

"Face it Nicks, you suck at crossing roads.", Ryan said holding my hand and pulling me along with him across the road as Amy trailed behind us.

"No I don't.", I muttered incoherently.

"Yes, you do.", He stated.

"Nahh." I replied.

"Yaah.", Amy shot back.

"Aye, did you just side with him.", I said frowning at Amy.

"Sorry babe but he's right there.", She said shrugging her shoulders and walking ahead of us.

"Like I've survived so long while crossing roads, I'm not that bad okay ?."

"That's why you fractured your foot last year.", Said Ryan rolling his eyes.

"That was one time and it was the biker's fault. I was ahead of him and he still ran the bike over my foot."

"Wouldn't have happened if you payed attention.", He continued.

"Just saying he crossed the white line, that's the pedestrian's area, so it's all on him.", I said grumpily.

"Okayy, it's his fault. Happy ?", Amy said chuckling.

"Let's get your clumsy ass home.", Ryan said.

"I can go by myself.", I retorted.

"Sure you can, but we'll still drop you.", Said Amy.

"Stop treating me like a kid please.", I said rolling my eyes.

"See we can't not treat a kid like a kid.", Ryan said with a grin.

"I don't like you guys.", I muttered.

"Aww, but we love you.", Amy teased.
