"Alphaaaaaa~. I'm awfully bored.", Silvester complained as he spiritlessly played with a screwdriver in his hands, letting it dance between his fingers. Ayumi sighed at his attitude. What else had she expected?
"No.80. I know you want to handicrafts on something different - and definitely seriously more dangerous. But you know the rules. Prison labor is on your daily schedule from now on, and everyone has to attend." She patted her inmate's head and smiled softly.
"But since your technical skills are above most of your companions, you're one of the most helpful ones at this task. So please stop whining and do your job. You'd do me a great favor." He glanced at her and remained silent for a little while. Then he sighed in defeat and continued his precision mechanical work he was supposed to do.
"Okay, okay. But only because it's you, Alpha. I don't do that for just anybody if they'd ask me. So be grateful."
"I am, don't worry. And thank you."
"Still . . . I think that my skills are wasted on crap like that. Why the fuck do we have to tinker toys for brats anyway?"
"'Cause the government wants you to, and the orphanages will be happy about new stuff for their kids."
"Then they should do it themselves! Are we Santa's little helpers or what?"
"No, but thank you for the picture in my head."
Ayumi snickered as she imagined her inmates in those Christmassy elves costumes you were able to see in malls or movies sometimes at Christmas season. They would totally look adorable, even the shadiest ones.
She gave Silvester one last pat on the head and smiled gently at him. "Keep up with your hard work. I appreciate it very much." "Only you, Alpha. Only you.", he mumbled in a reply and dedicated his full attention to the mechanical inner life of the little toy in his hands.
With a soft expression on her face, Ayumi left him alone so she wouldn't disturb him anymore. After all, she still had other prisoners to watch over. She wandered through the lines of Building 0 residents and checked if they were doing an accurate work.
In doing so, she spotted a very familiar cherry blossom cape and the snowy shock of hair with the Shiba Inu tail like ponytail and its pink tip. Now that she thought about it, Building 4 was sharing their prison labor workplace with Building 0 for today. Since her building hadn't had one on its own yet, her prisoners had to travel every day to one of the other buildings until their's will be completed.
With a happy grin on her lips, Ayumi walked over to her colleague, humming in a good mood. As she was only a few meters away from him, and he still hadn't noticed her, she called out: "Woof, woof! Master, give me attention and a treat!"
Kenshirou blinked a little surprised as he heard that but didn't bother to turn his head into the direction of the source of the noise. Instead, he just sighed and answered halfheartedly. "Not now, I'm working. Maybe later at lunch break. Then we can play fetch with your favorite ball and-"
He fell silent instantly as he finally realized who had addressed him. Bobbing his head to the side, he saw a black-haired girl trying to fight back her fit of laughter with all might. The tanned man blushed in all shades of red because of embarrassment and stared at her in disbelief. Had she seriously taken him for a ride?
"Nice one, kiddo!", Musashi laughed, sitting right beside the feet of his supervising guard and with one of his braille books in his hands. Since he was blind after all, he mostly had a difficult time with the prison industry. So instead he usually sat them out and kept himself busy with other stuff, preferably reading.
