James would often take Lily out flying(think Aladdin magic carpet but a broomstick) in the middle of the night with his invisibility cloak on. They had a favorite secluded clearing inside the forbidden forest that no one knew about. It was enchanted with a protective spell so that they would not be discovered.  There would always be a different romantic picnic set up, and Lily secretly loved it(even though she would protest that they were breaking the rules).
