Chapter Six Playing With Fire

"HEY, IT'S ME. I'm home now, and you should probably call me back when you get a chance. I know you've been busy with work the past few days, but... We should talk. I'm sorry for avoiding you."

"Anyways, call me when you can. I love you," Anna sighed, clicking her phone off. Her brother had gone MIA and she felt horrible, considering the fact that she'd been avoiding him like the plague.

Her phone began to ring, and a smile hit her face as she answered, "You called back that quick? I guess the station isn't busy."

"Anna, I think you should come over. It's important."

"Scott? What's going on?" She asked, fear in her voice. "Is my brother okay?"

"Yeah, he's just – Just come. I'll text you the address."

"I'm sorry, I ran here all the way and it started raining and – I don't drive but I was so worried that-"

Scott stood up, placing his hand on Anna's wet shoulder, "He's fine, it's okay. Take your time."

She took a deep breathe, "Where is he?"

"Getting changed," Lydia pressed her hips together, "He was burned." Anna's eyes widened in fear, "How badly?"

"It's okay, I'm fine," Parrish assured her, entering the room. Anna lightly pushed Scott aside, running up and engulfing her brother into a hug. He hugged her back, holding tightly as he took a deep breathe. "Don't do that again."

Jordan laughed lightly, pulling away. "I didn't really ask Haigh to set me on fire."

"He covered you in gasoline?" A man Anna didn't recognize asked, making Jordan turn. Lydia walked closer to him, "It's the hair and nails, isn't it? The parts of the body that are essentially dead."

The dark haired man rolled his eyes, "Well, they should be gone."

"I was set on fire," Jordan sighed, "All of me should be gone."

"Not if you're like us."

"Like you?" Jordan asked, turning to his sister. She nodded lightly, "Like me. But there's no way."

The man from before nodded, "Yeah, I'm with her. I don't think he's like us."

"Then what is he?" Lydia asked, staring at the siblings. "Male witches are extremely rare, and I would've noticed sooner. He's not like me," Anna promised, shaking her head. Jordan squinted his eyes, "A male witch?"
