Chapter Two Extra Credits

AFTER DAYS OF Jordan being fed up with Anna at the station constantly, he decided once and for all to sit her down and discuss school.

Even after her failed attempt to gather papers from Beacon Hills' High School a few nights ago, all she could continue to do was bug her older brother to try again – which only caused more problems for herself in turn. Because in the end, she had to do the one thing she didn't want to in order to sign up:

Talk to her father and tell him the truth.

The feeling she got when she first heard his voice – his confusion, his anger, his disappointment – may have been the worst part of it. Until Anna heard those dreaded words, "I'm coming down there as soon as possible."

"Dad, n-no! What? You have work, a-and I-"

"And you what, Annalise? You don't have school to attend to, considering you've gotten yourself kicked out. I can take a few days off to take care of my daughter," He spat over the phone.  She sighed, holding the phone up to her ear. This was going to be hell, and she knew it.

And so the next night, when Anna opened the door to her brother's small apartment to reveal her Dad, she could feel her stomach drop.

"Hi," She smiled lightly. Her father rushed through the door, not bothering to reciprocate the friendly gesture. He dropped his small bag in the entry way and stormed out into the living room.

"Jordan!" He yelled, until Anna corrected him. "He's at work. Nightshift," She spoke softly, fiddling with her hands. "Perfect! That's just wonderful. The one time he needs to be here, he's not," Her father scoffed.

"Are we going to talk?" Anna questioned him, looking down at her feet. "Talk? You want to talk to me now?" Her father lightly laughed, "Let's talk then."

"Let's talk about how you managed to waste thousands of dollars a year I dedicate to your education – how you managed to sneak out here, thinking your brother wouldn't inform me. How about the fact that you posed as the school when you called Jordan? He may not have recognized the voice in his message but I sure as hell did," Her father began. Anna's smile twitched, and she was frowning at him. "Dad, I-"

"Annalise, do not start the water works," He raised his voice, making her jump back. "You know how hard she worked to get you into this school, and you just throw it all away! And for what? To move to California? To be away from authority? To prove some half assed thought of point?" His screams echoed in her ear. "Dad, that's not what happened," She whispered, her voice low.
