BATHING SUITS

From the time Hailee confirmed that she could indeed enjoy a relaxed vacation weekend with her friends, to now, she couldn't help but feel that her last few days at work seemed to fly by. Whether that be from it being the middle of july and the weather was so scorching, the small starbucks were she worked was always busy, or it being just how excited she was for the upcoming events, Hailee couldn't tell.

When wenesday the 16th, aka the day before she headed up to the Landeskog's family cabin, came around, Hailee found herself rummaging through her tiny closet and sighing depressingly, coming to the realization that she had no impressing summer clothing. That's why when her shift ended at 5 that day, she rushed over to the shopping mall. She ended up trying on (and purchasing) a few pairs of shorts and loose tees at one store, a sundress, a new pair of sunglasses, along with a tanning lotion-the only thing left to buy were swimming suits. Which she knew she would probably end up living in at the cabin anyway, but, hey, why not treat yourself.

Unfortunately for Hailee, the only bathing suit in the small mall was where her ex had been working at since the two started dating back last year. ugh, she thought. Hailee has to practically push herself into the store. She made a b-line for the racks at the back of the store, were she knew her favourite styles would be. Her fingers divided the suits, looking through each one carefully, occasionally pulling out hangers that held ones she wanted to try. She grabbed a black one piece, pulling it from the rack and into the air to further exam the material.

"That one would look really good on you." Hailee's eyes were torn away from the black suit, her eyes now clouded by him.

"James....hey." her ex.

"One pieces always seemed to suit you the best. Maybe it was because of your long legs or-"

"Don't." she sent him a warning look. "Can I just try these on?"

His normal rosy cheeks paled as she spoke. He ran his pale hand through his brown locks, giving Hailee a quick nod. "Yeah. Sorry, I just-"

"I get it, James. I'm gunna just-" Hailee jutted her thumb behind her shoulder, directing herself to the change rooms. "-try these on....thanks."

She cursed herself for actually liking the black one piece James liked. In the bottom of her heart, she knew that she would've liked it and it would probably look amazing on her just because of the mer fact that James knew it would. He happened to have an eye for things like that. Hailee ended up leaving with the black one piece and a frilly pink bathing suit, a pair of pineapple flip flops to accompany.

Hailee bounded up the stairs of her small apartment, reaching her room in a record time. She dropped all her bags on the small bench that was situated at the end of her bed. Her next stop was the closet were she grabbed the handles of her large black overnight type bag from the top of her closet and dragged it out, tossing it on her white blanket.

Clara, Hailee's roommate, stopped at the brunettes door, her perfectly styled eyebrows raising at the sight of her roommate frantically looking through her closet.

"You're just packing now?" Clara tucked some of her short black hair behind her ear. "I thought you already had that done..."

"Nope, I needed to do some major damage at the mall. I can't show up to the Landeskog cabin with my supermodel friends and my best friends supermodel like brother Gabe and his supermodel friend in 7 year old bathing suits and oversized, stained shirts, can I?"

Hailee tossed one of her old bathing suits in the direction of Clara, making the dark skinned girl chuckle. "Gabe right?"

"Yeah...." Hailee started to unpack the new clothing, "why?"

"No reason, just, you know....it's your Gabe."

"Shut up!" Hailee shrieked, "Let me pack in peace."

Clara raised her hands in surrender. "Okay, Okay. I'm ordering pizza, want some?"

"Yes! Extra cheese for an extra girl!!" Hailee shouted out to Clara as she walked down the hall, dialling the pizza place.

"You know it!!!"

Half a box of pizza later and an almost completely packed weekend bag later, Hailee opened her cell phone and almost instantly, a text dinged through, its message showing at the top of the screen. She clicked it, leading Hailee to the full screen to read the message.

Lucy

Lucy

somebody.

Hailee

Hailee put her phone down and started to get herself ready for bed. She couldn't wait to spend the next few days with her friends at her childhood heaven, but spending time with Gabe, well, she has to decide how she felt about that still. Hailee pulled back the sheets and gingerly crawled in, shutting of her lamp and letting herself fall into a blissful sleep.
