Back to reality, work time AGAIN. I knew they’d have me doing boring jobs, but this is ridiculous, for the last three days I’ve sat in meeting with Michael and scribed for him, it’s not even like they’re talking about the boys or anything interesting. I’ve been away from home for three weeks now so my mum is travelling up to London today to have lunch with me, I must admit I’m excited to see her, I want to ask her advice on this Brad situation because I’m completely baffled. He said he doesn’t want a relationship, but continues to hold my hand and kiss me, so many mixed signals I don’t know how to approach it.

When I get to the office I’m told that Michael isn’t in today but that he’s left me plenty of work to be getting on with, fab. I’ve barely seen Shay or Charlie since the meeting at the weekend because my lunch has been moved. Note to self, arrange dinner with the girls.

I’m literally sat staring at the clock whilst making these copies, I just want to see my mum now, and it’s been so long. I need to ask her how everyone is, if she’s been looking after my dog and Lucas is getting on at school. I’m glad I’m going to a uni in London and that I’m not going a million miles away, I literally need to see my family regularly or I will go insane.

Out of nowhere a hand is on my shoulder, I turn around and am greeted by Tristan, not who I was expecting but at least it’s someone.

‘Hey Tris, what’s up?’

‘I kind of need some advice and I didn’t know who else to come to.’

‘Sure, what’s up?’ I say as I continue making copies of the paperwork.

‘Well, I want to ask Angie out, not to dinner, like to be my girlfriend. I know it’s a bit fast but I can’t think of anyone I would be better with. She’s so talented Bella and she’s stunning, we get along so well, she doesn’t think I’m too loud or annoying, she actually finds me funny. No ones ever understood me so quickly before and yeah I really like her. I don’t want to scare her though.’

‘Tris, I don’t think you’ll scare her, since she’s been staying here she hasn’t stopped going on about you, she thinks you’re great, just do it.’

‘But how?’ He asks.

‘Maybe you could go back to yours and watch Tangled again, since it’s the first film you watched together, get some wine and some takeaway, don’t go over the top she’s not like that. She doesn’t need a show, she likes you.’

‘Yeah, you’re right okay, thanks Bella. What’s happening with you and Brad by the way, he won’t tell us.’

‘That’s because there’s nothing to tell; he doesn’t think we can be in a relationship, so we’re not. Simple.’

‘Except it’s not that simple. He’s saying that because he thinks it’s the right thing to do, not because that’s what he wants. You should see how he reacts when we say your name or talk about you to him. He’s shit with his phone, he never answers us, but he replies to your texts within a minute of getting one, the whole time he’s replying he has a smile on his face. He’s happy around you Bella.’

I don’t even know how to react to this revelation, why can’t he just try? Doesn’t he worry that he’ll regret not attempting to have a relationship with me? Sure the abuse might be hard, but I’ll deal with it, distance is relative to how hard we’re willing to try to make it work. He’s putting up barriers that don’t need to be there and I want to know the real reason why.

I can’t think about that right now I have to go to lunch with mother, I say a quick goodbye to Tristan, as I’m walking to meet my mum I pull my phone out of my bag and decide to text Brad.
