Alex's POV
"Get your lazy ass up Alex. WE ARE GOING TO A PARTY!" My overly hyper best friend says as she enters my room like this is her house. I sigh in frustration knowing that I can't win this argument with Shanaya.
Shanaya Jones. Her mother is Indian and her father is English so she got the mix of both, making her gorgeous. Long, thick, black wavy hair that reaches her slim waist and high cheekbones making her look like a model. She gets asked out at least once a day but her answer is always a 'no'. Her priority is to become a lawyer. Year 12 ended a few hours ago and you can expect a party to be hosted.
"Okay, Shani. What shall I wear your majesty?" Sarcasm was dripping from my tongue. Knowing Shanaya she wouldn't let me wear jeans and a top as that's not classified as 'party wear'. Her words, not mine.
To say she looked shocked was an understatement. I never back down without a fight when she tells me to go to these dumb parties. I just don't have the energy inside me to argue with her today. The end result is always the same.
"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?" Shani exclaims dramatically. I roll my eyes at her stupidity.
"Shut up and go pick my an outfit," I say with a scowl attached to my face. A smirk appears on Shani's face, "That's the best friend I know!"
Time to roll my eyes. Again.
I grab the pillow placed on my bed and throw it straight at her. And like always, it hits her square in the face. Instead of replying she chucks the pillow back and breaks into laughter as she fishes out for an outfit.
Whilst shes doing that I grab my phone and decide to have a look at Instagram. I have 254 followers which means that I have no friends or social life. Shanaya is my only friend and I know that's quite sad but I rather have a real best friend than many fake friends around me. I start scrolling through my feed looking at nothing particular when a dress lands on my face.
My face lit up as I admired the dress. It was a simple dress. Just the way I liked it. It was black with full sleeves. It had lace all over it and let me tell you one thing...
I LOVE LACE.
"Not bad Shani. I approve." I smile at her and get up to get changed. Shani was a fashion guru. She knew what looked best on her and me. Apparently, my colour was black.
"I'll go wear this in the bathroom you can change here," I tell her as I walk into my en-suite.
I don't like the way I look. My hips are wide and I have a flabby stomach. Everyone tells me that I have the curves but I know they're only saying this to make sure I don't have a relapse. I sigh and shake my head as I try and get the thoughts of the incident out of my mind.
The dress slips on like a glove and I turn to my side to see if you can see the extra weight. It was slightly visible so I pull it in and hope that no one can see it.
I walk out and go to the mirror where Shani had already started her make up. She turns at the sound of my footsteps and the inner witch inside her is released.
"OMG! ALEX YOU LOOK SEXY!" Shani shouted in my ear.
I roll my eyes and chuckle, "Babe you look gorgeous. The boys will be all over you." She was wearing a scarlet red body-con dress. It hugged her in the right places and she looked unreal.
Now looking in the mirror where me and Shani both stood, I compared us. I loved Shani but I was jealous of her. She didn't even have to try and beauty just flowed out of her. Whereas I had to make sure my make up was perfect for me to look half decent. Her slim waist against my wide one made me wonder how she was friends with me.
I start applying my makeup but insecurities were running through me at 100mph and it looked like they weren't going to stop anytime soon.
You're gorgeous Alex. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Those words bought happiness and sadness at the same time. Refusing to cry and ruin my makeup, I blinked away the tears and decided to not ruin the mood. I finish applying the baby pink lipstick and look in the mirror to see how I looked.
I did smokey eyes and it bought out my dull brown eyes with the help of eyeliner. The contour defined the cheekbones and the light pink lipstick bought colour to my olive skin. Shani, on the other hand, had gone with the fierce look and had bold eyeliner but no eyeshadow and red lipsticks which covered her lips perfectly.
"Damn. We look gorgeous." Shani said and I smiled. She looked beautiful no matter what she did but I have to agree, we do look pretty.
I walk towards my shoe drawer and take out a pair of black flats and I see Shani about to protest when I give her the look. She doesn't argue with me and I smile in triumph. She slips on nude heels and confusion takes over once again, how is she going to survive the night in those?
I dismiss the train of thoughts and walk down the stairs and see my brother, Nick lounging around. Both of my parents are lawyers so they are quite busy but they always make time for us.
Let's meet my family:

Is an annoying piece of shit which I love at the same time. Big Flirt."Nick we're going to a party. I'll either stay over at one of my friend's house or come back home. Whatever I do I will let you know." I tell my Nick before we departed.
"I don't approve of what you are wearing." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"And I don't care," I say with a shrug. I quickly sprint out and grab Shanaya whilst running. If it was up to Nick he would make me wear a nun's outfit.
I was never a party girl but for some reason, I felt this party will change everything.
