-Piper's Point of View-

I groan as I hear a knock on the door. It's probably Nathan. I wipe my tears and walk to the door. "I told you not to come back" I growl as I open the door to reveal a very tall man with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. "Oh sorry, I thought you were someone else." I apologize as the man chuckles slightly.

"Expecting Nathan again?" I look at him confused as he continues in a more serious tone. "It's me. Garrett. Your neighbor. I heard the yelling so I thought I'd come introduce myself finally and see if you were alright." He explains.

"Oh! Sorry! Come on in." I step aside, wiping a tear from my sore cheek that I had missed, wincing in pain when I do. Garrett frowns as he watches me before speaking again.

"What happened to your cheek?" He looks at me, giving me a look that told me he already had an idea of what I was about to say.

"Nathan didn't like that I called him names. He um, he slapped me." I feel more tears well up in my eyes, threatening to overflow again. I look down before continuing. "I broke up with him and told him to leave and never come back. He's such a... jerk, to put it nicely. I was so stupid!" I had been trying to hold back my emotions with Garrett here, but it was getting harder and I decided to let them out. I had to. Garrett lifts my chin gently, examining the welt and wiping a tear after.

"You're not stupid. You stood up for yourself and left him when he hit you, that's the exact opposite of stupid. Okay?" I nod weakly. I know deep down that he's right, but a smart girl wouldn't have let it get as far as it did. She would've left as soon as she was getting treated like garbage.

-Garrett's Point of View-

I look at the welt on Piper's face. I can't believe her ex did that. She blinks back another tear. "Nathan said I was stupid..." she whispers, "and useless." she keeps whispering, as if she doesn't want me to hear, but I hear everything perfectly, anger building. "He said I was boring, and, and, couldn't do anything right..." She turns away from me, sniffling. "And that I was ugly and-" That's it. I wrap my arms around her and turn her back to me, forcing her to look me in the eye.

"Nathan is an idiot." I continue to study the petite woman in my arms. She is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Long blonde hair, blue eyes, and the most adorable freckles. And I've only been in a room with her for five minutes and I can already tell that we'll be best friends. I pull her close to me, her head now on my chest as I stroke her hair and speak again. "You're beautiful Piper, and you're NOT stupid, useless, boring, or anything else that Nathan said. He's a moron and he's wrong. Got it?" I pull away and look down at her as she nods and smiles.

"Thanks, Garrett." She walks to her tv and rummages through a collection of DVD's, pulling out Kill Bill Vol. 1 and holding it up to me. "Would you want to stay and watch a movie?" She smiles as I gasp and nod my head.

"Yes!! I love Kill Bill!" I exclaim, walking towards the couch.

"Me too! I'll order us some pizza too!" She puts the DVD in and pulls out her phone, placing the pizza order. "It'll be here soon."

After lots of pizza and one and a half Kill Bill movies, I notice Piper yawning a bit, as if she's fighting sleep. I get up off the couch and turn to look at her. "I should go so you can sleep, we can talk tomorrow." I suggest as she reaches out and grabs my wrist quickly.

"No," she looks at me with pleading eyes. "Stay with me? Please?" she asks.

"Okay." She lets go of my hand as I snuggle back into my place on the opposite end of the couch from her.
