The Royal Ball

Two weeks had passed way too soon for Yuichiro's liking, it was now exactly one day till the royal ball.

"That is hideous, I'm not wearing that" Yuichiro said looking at his ball attire.

"Oh but Prince Yuichiro we really
thought you'd like it" a maid said.
"Y-you'd look great sir" she continued with a small blush appearing on her face.

"Eh maybe add something like..hmm.." Yuichiro took a moment to think.
"I think a different cravat would look much nicer, and add an emerald gem in the middle"

"Yes sir of course" the maid walked off with the male's suit in hand.

"Oof " Yuichiro plopped onto his bed. "I hope I meet someone beautiful and nice.."

"Yuu-kun~!" Yoichi said entering the room. "I'm so excited for you! Not only is this ball going to be so extravagant but it's all about finding your true love!"

"Eh? True love? Nah not a chance" Yuichiro deadpanned. "Besides, Yoichi when did you even get here?"

"Huh? Oh a maid let me in, I actually just arrived haha" Yoichi took a seat on the bed next to the other boy.

Yuichiro sighed. "Please don't call it true love. It's arranged, yeah sure I get to pick her out but it's not going to be genuine you know?"

"Aw Yuu-kun, you really want to fall in love the long way" Yoichi giggled.

"Hey! Don't make fun of me!" Yuichiro yelled.

"No no, actually I agree..I think taking time to get to know a person and slowly falling for each other without planning it is way more special!" Yoichi smiled. "But unfortunately that's not how it works for us, we are forced into things like marriage and becoming king. It's just our lives as royals, Yuu-kun"

"Sometimes I hate being prince" Yuichiro frowned. "I wish we had normal lives sometimes. I never get to see Shinya anymore, it sucks"

"Yuu-kun you know Shinya is just away for now, he's coming home tomorrow! I know he's been gone for months but for good reasons, he's been helping the less fortunate" Yoichi pulled Yuu into a hug. "See I understand why you hate being royal sometimes but look at the people Shinya's helping, they have it way worse than an arranged marriage"

"I know, thank you Yoichi"

"Prince Mikaela, your mother would like your presence in the garden" a maid said glancing into the room Mika was in.

"Yes of course, thank you m'lady" Mika said placing his book down.

"Hello mother" Mika said as he approached his mom, Queen Krul.
"You wanted to see me?"

"Hello Mikaela, and yes I did in fact"
Krul stood up from the flower bed where she had been seated, admiring their beauty. "The royal ball is tomorrow night, I'm sure you're well prepared hmm?"

"Yes mother, I'm wearing a new suit, matched with a blue vest that has black lace detailing, paired with a black cravat and a beautiful sapphire gem in the middle"

"My my, what a beautiful young man you will be" Krul smiled grabbing Mika's hands in her own. "Make me even happier and bring home a beautiful young woman to go along with you"
