Specialty Vocation #4: Ranger

Members of the ranger vocation are a sort of next level jack-of-all-trades. Unlike minstrels — who also normally hold that title — they tend to go more on the defensive rather than the offensive. Their normal attacks deal out an average amount of damage to enemies, and their spellcasting abilities provide helpful support to their party members.

Rangers can also take over the role of a priest in their party. They typically choose to act as healers, but aren't afraid to deal out heavy damage when they have to. However, if at all possible, they opt to try and avoid any form of battle. They also have the ability to increase the party's chances of escape from a fight that might be too much to handle.

While they don't use armour, rangers still have a decent variety of weapons available for them to use. They choose to be proficient in axes, bows, and boomerangs. However, they're also resourceful enough to have high fisticuff skills. They don't use shields, as they have a naturally high evasion ability.

Rangers have the Coup-de-Grace ability of "Brownie Boost." This particular ability temporarily ups their attack and defense for a short time. It also makes them more resistant to breathy attacks from enemies for a bit.

As a unique skill, rangers have a the trait of ruggedness. This increases not only their agility, but their attack as well. It also gives them the ability to have strong influence over enemies. With enough practice and concentration, they have the ability to potentially calm an enraged enemy.

When rangers achieve the highest rank possible, they receive the Medal of Freedom. This medal increases the recipient's defense and deftness in battle.
