Chapter 2 - "You Wound Me Woman"

Max's POV
I wake up by myself for once. My clock says it's 7 o'clock and I feel the need to get back to sleep. Suddenly I'm reminded of today's duel and the stakes of it. If I loose, what is not going to happen, me but most importantly my friends won't be safe from "Alpha Boy what's his name." I'm not allowed to loose today, I will win nomatter the cost.

Thinking it would be a good idea to get some training in before school I walk into the garden and to the corner where I made a little gym. I start with running on the treadmill and working my way through a whole exercise ending with a run outside.

I love the morning air. Not really wanting to go to far as to run in my wolf form, I decide to go to the park. The park is a 5 minute run so to there and back will give me enough time to get ready for school.

Back home I take a shower and change into something less... smelly. The smell of pancakes fills my nose as I make my way downstairs.

"you're up early, or did you even sleep at al." my mom says while flipping a pancake.

"haha mom very funny. But yes I have slept today it's just that" I sigh. "some guy from school challenged me to a duel after I tried to stop him from hurting Em."

I know that my mom is against all sorts of violence and that she's probably not going to allow me to go.

"so are you going to beat him?" she says is a casual manner not even seeing my surprised face.

"w-what.." I trail of not even hiding my confusion

"are you going to beat that guy who mistreated your friends" she says in the same tone as before.

"uhm, yeah I guess" I answer still not really knowing how to react

"good" is is all she says before my brother storms in while screaming that he needs to get to school ASAP. I roll my eyes at the simulairities between us.

I hear a honk outside of my house and take that as my que to leave as well. Giving my mom a kiss on the cheek and saying goodbye I grab my bag and make my way outside. Like always Nic is behind the wheel and Em is in shotgun.

"hello girls" I says as I take my seat in the back.

"wait you're actually on time for once. Who are you and what have you done to my Max!' Nicky says while looking at me suspiciously.

"it's me jeez Nic, I was just up very early and trained a bit for today after school" I answer

"so you're really going to go then?" Emma says with consern in her voice. "you don't have to do this for me you know that right?"

"enough with the questions Em it's going to be fine, trust me  I want to do this I'm not just going to let them hurt my friends" I answer already feeling angry towards Chase and his gang.

"just don't hurt yourself OK" Nicky says with the same amount of consern in her voice

"look I know I'm amazing but don't worry your pretty little heads about me and an drive dofus" I say trying to lighten the mood

So are you ready for tomorrow?" Nicky asks me

I look at her confused." what do you mean Nic?"

"your birthday smart ass, don't tell me you forgot about it!" Emma says while laughing a little.

"Come on Max you're turning 18 how can you just forget about that" Nicky says in disbelieve.

"wow guys spare me the compliments" the sarcasm clearly hearable in my tone.

This is how the rest of the ride went by. We arrive at school and split up to our lockers. When I enter the hallway I notice a figure standing next to my locker.

"well look who's stalking me, what do you want Alpha Boy" I say poison dripping of my voice.

"good morning to you to, didn't you sleep well last night. Were you dreaming about me" Chase says smirk like always back on his lips

"wouldn't you like that. But no I don't really have nightmares like that." I say while opening my locker to get my stuff.

Chase takes a very dramatic stance while making it look like he was stabbed in the chest. "you wound me woman! How could you be so cruel!"

"who? Me? I have always been this cruel but you wouldn't know because I don't like to be around trash like you." I say

He stand up straight again. "whatever what I was going to say was good luck today you'll need it" he says with a smirk and walks away.

"Look I get it, you're afraid to loose from a girl. Just so you know I will enjoy beating you. Bye Alpha Boy" I say as I Make my way to class leaving a surprised Chase behind me.

First period was boring as fuck. My history teacher explained that there will be an upcoming project, woop woop. Maths was a lot of homework and sleeping, which was the best part of the period. And last but not least phisics. Let's not even talk about that.

Als soon as the bell went I grabbed my bag and made my way over to the cafeteria. Emma was already waiting in line so I joined her.

"Hi, how was first period?" I ask her hoping that her day went better then mine.

"it was decent I guess. During P.E I was allowed to sit on the bleachers and I had history with you.

As I start to wonder where Nicky is I'm answered by a scream next to me and some one laughing behind me. When I turn around I see Nicky doubled over in laughter and realization hits me as I start to laugh as well and give her a high five.

"guys that's not funny. I could've dropped my croissants" Emma whines

I can't help but laugh even more at that reference.

We all get our food and sit down at a table. I once again become some sort of food beast and have my ways with my pizza slice. Nicky does the same with her hamburger and Emma is just eating like a normal person.

Break is soon over and as I say goodbye to my friends I feel a pair of eyes on me. I turn around to spot Chase looking at me from his table in the middle of the cafeteria. I send him a nasty glare and go to my next classes

One more period and then it's time.
