Luke's POV
I woke up to the sound of thunder crashing and lighting lighting up the room.

Ruthie was still sound asleep next to me curled up with her head on my arm. Her messy hair kept tickling me and her little snores filled the silence that the absent sound of thunder couldn't.

I debated getting up knowing I would wake her or just accept the fact that my arm would hurt until she woke up on her own. It was already 10 in the morning but the storm clouds gave the illusion that it was still 3 AM.

Another sound of thunder shook the whole house and Ruthie started to stir. I was relieved because I'm not sure how much longer I could keep her giant head on my arm.

"Good morning, now get off me please." I rip my arm out from under her and sign in relief.

"Drama queen," she rolls her eyes and sits up to look out her window.

"Luke, it's a miracle! Both of my parents are home!" Her sarcastic tone makes me giggle along with her. I look out her window and see three cars in the driveway instead just Ruthie's car.

"I need to go back to my place to finish my finale report for class. I'll come over when I'm done and we can do something."

  "Ok, I'll text you. Bye."

I walk across the room and crawls through her window into the storm and straight into my bedroom window a few feet away.

I was happy both of Ruthie's parents were home. I don't think they've been in the same building since Christmas. I looked through my window and saw that she laid back down looking through her phone.

I pick up my phone and click on her contact to message her:
"Lazy."

She doesn't even look away from her phone and gives me the middle finger. I guess the text encouraged her to get up because she's finally moved off the bed and walks out of her room.

I sit down and sigh at my unfinished report staring back at me from my laptop. I finally start typing and all my focus is all on the report. I know once this is over with I'm free. No more worries. A summer full of adventures, parties, hopefully tons of girls, and of corse a million movie nights with Ruthie.

Before I know it, I've finished the report. The whole twenty pages filled with words I thought way too long and hard about. I look at the time and it's almost 2:00 pm.

I need to shower to wash off all this stress and hopefully relax a little. I start the water and step underneath the shower head and hang my head letting the water run over my broad shoulders. When I'm finished I dry my hair off with a towel and change into black skinny jeans and a plain white t-shirt. I try to control my blond curls as much as I can but give up within seconds. I'll make Ruthie fix it.

I pick up my phone do I can text her and ask what she wants to do. After a few minutes she still hasn't opened my my message. I look into her window but can't see her at first. But all of the sudden I see her throwing things around and screaming at someone and crying.

Ruthie's POV

Why is this happening? Right before graduating high school, my graduation party... everything is falling down at once. We were supposed to see our family next month with Luke. We were suppose to be together this summer. Not splitting up.

My heart hurts and I can't handle my emotions. I'm so upset but I'm so furious at my parents for their decision. It's selfish. They never had a problem with each other, they just work a lot. They always chose their work over me and their relationship.
