Ruthie's POV
Silence and sound. Complete opposite but somehow both painful. My mind is empty but the scene from last night keeps replaying in my mind drowning everything around me. It's all I see and hear. My muffled screams; clawing at the wood frame door; bare skin being scraped across the bathroom tiled floor.
I won't ever be the same again. How is someone so cruel? I don't know how to handle the emotions.
"Ruthie? Are you awake?" Silence. That's all I give for a response. "You should call Luke if you haven't yet." I hear addy finally give up and walk back down the hallway. I haven't moved from the bed since last night. I'm scared to move and see the damage that was done. I've heard my phone ring too many times with Luke's ring tone but I can't face him. This will kill him inside.
Luke's POV
I haven't heard anything from Ruthie since our conversation yesterday. Addy texted me a few hours ago saying Ruthie won't leave her room and won't talk to her. She tried telling me she's probably hung over but she isn't acting herself.
I try calling Ruthie one more time but sent straight voicemail. Something happened and I need to find out.
Addy's POV
I gave Ruthie all day to herself. It's almost midnight and she still hasn't left her room. She missed her shift this morning too. Luke keeps calling but she won't answer.
All of the sudden I hear screams coming from her room.
Ruthie's POV
I slept for the first time since it happened and all I could see was the same bathroom fall and hear the noises I want to forget about. I scream as loud as I can but nothing stops it. I scream until my lungs burn and I have no air.
"Ruthie! Wake up!" I open my eyes and sit straight up and gasp for air. The bedroom light is blinding after hiding in the dark all day and night. Addy is sitting on the bed next to me concern written all over her face. She's still grasping my shoulders from tryin to wake me but I don't want to be touched I don't want to be around anyone. I need to be alone.
"Addy, let go please! Don't touch me!" Sobs are escaping my mouth as I yell. She stands up stunned at me words. "Please get out. I need to be alone." I point in the direction of the door.
"Ruthie what's wrong? What happened?"
"Just get out, please!" I shiver her out the door and lock it. The tears won't stop and I feel so hopeless.
Addy's POV
I run to my phone and dial Luke.
"Hello?""Luke," I'm trying to thing of what to say to him because I'm still not sure what happened. I have ideas but I praying I'm wrong. "You need to come get Ruthie. Something happened."
"Whoa, hold on what? Your talking so fast what happened?"
"Something happened to Ruthie and she started screaming and crying and I think I saw blood on her leg and the bed sheets! Luke I don't know what to do!"
"Shit, Addy. I'll be there early in the morning. I'm booking a flight now."
I don't know what to do for her. Luke may not even know. I'm not sure him coming here will be good or bad.
"I'm not leaving the house. I don't trust her. I can't get back in her room and she won't let me touch her."
Luke softly questions my words, "won't let you touch her? Addy.." he doesn't continue his thoughts but I know he's thinking the same thing I am.
Ruthie was raped.
