Chapter 28

Betty POV

I was going to take Matthew to meet Matthew for the first time I was expected. I got up and did my normal routine and then I got Matty ready.

I put Matthew into his car seat then put him in the car and drove to the hospital. Once we got there I got out of the car and put his dipper bag on my shoulder and then got Matthew out of his car seat.

"Your going meet your daddy today Matty. Yes you are." I said smiling at him as he smiled back at me with his little gummy smile and his little scrunched face I laughed and then walked into the hospital carrying Matthew. I walked in and sighed in then I walked to Jugheads room and saw Jughead still sitting up in his bed laughing with his dad who was sat in the chair next to him I smiled and then FP looked up at me and smiled I waved and then sat on one of the chair outside the room and I sat Matthew on my knee and bounced him up and down.

"We just have to wait a minute Matty. Your daddy's just talking to his dad." I said smiling at him then the door opened and FP walked out.

"Hey FP." I said smiling

"Hey Betty. How's my little grandson doing." He said kneeling down so he was level with Matthew and Matthew smiled then FP stood up "Jug's waiting for you. I'm going to leave you three alone I'll see you later Betty." He said smiling and walking away.

I stood up and took a deep breath and walked in.

"Hey Juggie." I said smiling at him

"Hey." He said smiling then his smile grew when he looked at Matthew.

"I brought someone to see you." I said walking over to his bed "Matthew. Look it's your daddy." I said as I was stood next to Jugheads bed then Matthew turned his head and looked at Jughead.

"Hey little man." He said smiling

"You want to hold him Jug."

"100%." He said and I handed him to Jughead and he sat him on his upper leg.

"Hi Matthew. I'm your dad. Your a handsome little boy aren't you. Yes you are." Jughead said in a baby voice to Matthew and Matthew started to giggle as Jughead pulled funny faces at him. I smiled at him and Jughead scooted over and patted the spot next to him I climbed in next to him and rested my head on his shoulder I placed my hand on his leg just near were it ended and he flinched I immediately moving away from him.

"Sorry." I said thinking I'd hurt him so I tried to stay away from him to try no to hurt him more.

"No its...its ok its just a weird feeling. It's ok you you can touch me it's fine I promise it doesn't hurt it was just surprising." He said softly then with his other hand that wasn't keeping Matthew sat up he took my hand and placed my hand back were it was then he let go of my hand an I just kept it there then I ran my hand up and down what was left of his leg.

"Is this ok?" I asked not wanting to hurt him or make him uncomfortable.

"Ye. It's fine." He said smiling at me

"What happened?"

"We were out patrolling and I was walking about 10 feet away from Sweet-Pea then there was an explosion and I looked where Sweet-Pea was and he wasn't there so I quickly looked around then I saw him laying on the floor with no left arm. I ran to him but the next thing I know there was another explosion and I was laying on my back there was smock,dust and blood everywhere. I just remember looking down and seeing one of my legs end just bellow my knee and the other stopped like halfway up my shin and there was a bone sticking out. It hurt but I couldn't feel all of it. I wanted to give up I wanted to just lay down and close my eyes. But then I remember you. And that I promised you I'd come back so I pushed threw it and here I am. Granted I'm not here in one pice but I'm here. I just hope your parents don't kill me. And Sweets is ok he just lost his arm and they flew him back to LA."

"Oh Jug." I said with tears in my eyes I hugged him and he put one arm round me because he was still supporting Matthew.

"Are you parents going to kill me." He said chuckling

"No I....I haven't spoke to them yet. I'm going to call Polly later and see if she can come up and look after Matthew for a while so I can spend more time with you at the hospital." I said pulling away and just resting my head on his arm

"You don't have to do that. I'll be fine here alone."

"Jug?"

"Ye?"

"Shut up. I'm not letting you sit here on your own."

"Ok." He said turning back to Matthew who was starting to fall asleep. I took him off of Jughead and held him so his head was on my shoulder. Once he was asleep I decided now may be a good time to call Polly.

"Jug?"

"Mmm."

"Can you hold Matthew why I call Polly?"

"Sure." He said and I handed Matthew to him and he lay him along his chest I gave Jughead a quick peck on the lips before getting up and walking out of the room and I called Polly.

On the phone.

"Betty! Hi." Polly said happily

"Hi Polly." I said a little less enthusiastic then her

"What's up? Isn't Jughead supposed to come back today?"

"He uh he came back yesterday." I said

"Oh god. That's not good is he ok?" She said concerned

"There....there were some explosions."

"Oh god." I heard her mutter

"He lost both his legs from above his knees."

"Oh my god Betty I'm so sorry."

"It's ok. I was just calling to see if you could maybe come up here and look after Matthew for a while so I can stay with Jug at the hospital. It's ok if you can't I was getting Ronnie to watch him but she has to work."

"Ye of course I'll come I'll get a flight out."

"Thanks Polly."

"It's no problem. Have you spoke to mom and dad yet?"

"No. I....I kind of don't want to."

"I can talk to them if you want?"

"You'd do that for me?"

"Of course."

"Ok. Thanks Polly. I'm going to go and check on Jug he's just with Matthew."

"Ok. I'll see you soon."

"Ok bye." I said and I hung up I put my phone back in my pocket and walked back into the room. When I walked in I saw Jughead was completely lay down asleep with Matthew laying on his chest. I smiled at how cute they looked. I pulled out my phone and took a picture then I sat down in the chair next to his bed and turned on the tv but so the sound was low.
