Spider-Man: The New Animated Series was a Spider-Man cartoon made to continue the story of the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie, however it was made non canon by Spider-Man 2. This is how I would have continued the series if I could make a season 2...
Back in the year 2002, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was a box office success and Sony looked to capitalize on their new found money maker. Sony at first wanted to make an animated adaptation of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, but after the success of Spider-Man, they instead opted to make a series that would tie into the movie. Thus, Spider-Man: The Animated Series was born. It aired on MTV, but due to almost no advertising for the series... it didn't get much views and only went on for 1 Season (which spanned 13 episodes). Soon afterwards, the series would become non canon to the Sam Raimi film series when Spider-Man 2 released... however by that time Spider-Man: The New Animated Series gained a cult following among Spider-Man fans, however lots of fans failed to realize it was a tie in to the Sam Raimi movies.
That said, I am writing my own take on what the second season would be like... so here's a bit of a plot summary.
Spider-Man The New Animated Series Season 2 summary: After the Gaines Twins made Spider-Man hurt Indira Dimonji (one of Peter's love interest in the series since there was a love triangle between Peter, MJ, and Indy), Spider-Man has disappeared... in the end of Season 1 Peter had quit being Spider-Man, putting the costume in a breif case and throwing it in the river. However, despite the lack of a double life... Peter's life hasn't been any easier. Harry has become the head of special projects in Oscorp, and as a result he moves back into the Oscorp Mansion. While Peter struggles to find a new place to live, Mary Jane starts to seek love from a new place... after Peter continues to keep her at arm's length. Indy has not woken up from her coma. This will lead into a reworking of the story of Spider-Man 2 to fit the TNAS style... but the arc after that.... I won't spoil for now.
