"It's called the Hollow Earth Theory," Houston spoke, "Randa hired me, because I wrote a paper- most people think it's just a crackpot idea."

The group walked through some trees. Conrad led the group and Danielle stayed next to him, Mason was right behind them, Slivko was next to her, and the scientist were in the back.

"That there is this massive underground species," Houston said, "Isolated from the surface worlds."

San nods, "Randa believed this island may be one of those." She said.

"An emergence point for whatever lives below. Ancient species like what we just saw. I thought he was out of his mind." Houston said.

Danielle frowns, "That was his plan? All this time?"

Houston nods.

Danielle kept that frown, "He lied to us."

They continued to walk. At this point they reached out of the forest they were in and were at a meadow. There was a swamp near the path they were making in the direction Conrad was leading them.

"This is Slivko, do you read?" Slivko was using the radio, "Anybody out there? We're heading north of the exit location. Everyone here seems way too calm right now. You copy?"

Slivko frowns and tries again. But nothing.

"We're out of range." Conrad said.

Slivko frowns, "Shit."

Danielle glances back at him, "Save it for when we get closer to the group." She says.

Slivko nods.

Then as they were walking something made noise in the water of the swamp. This alerted everyone. Appearing from the water seemed to be some sort of water bison, but it was a larger by normal standards. Everyone had pointed their guns at them, everyone but Mason, who only carried her camera.

"Nobody move," Conrad spoke.

Suddenly, Danielle lowered her gun. Seeing this animal as no threat a small smile escaped her lips.

"Easy," She said, "I don't think he's threatened by us."

Conrad lowered his gun, as did the scientist, however Slivko did no. Conrad turned to the shaken boy. His finger was on the trigger but not yet pulled.

"Slivko," Conrad said.

"What?" He nervously responded with.

Conrad placed his hand in front of the gun to help the boy lower his, "Put it down." He said.

Mason smiles and snaps a photo of the creature. Within seconds after that photo was taken, the creatures turns and heads off. Slivko let out a sigh of relief. Then the group continued to head onward.

Conrad turns to Danielle, "How did you know it wasn't going to harm us?" He asks.

Danielle shrugs, "I know the animal didn't feel threatened because I saw that it barely blind, likely due to old age."
