The Athena saw the small makeshift boat sailing in their direction. It didn't take long for a rescue team to be sent down and collect the remaining people, as well as new comer Hank.
There were so many questions that was being asked by them -- but not a one dared to speak of their events. They had collectively came up with a story, that the storm was far worst on the island and many helicopters did not make it. That's how mostly everyone died. They only said as much as they could -- saying that Hank had been stuck on the island since World War Two and had managed to survive through the terrible conditions. But nothing about Kong. Nor the skull crawlers. Nothing.
Quickly the Athena's doctors came out to treat the survivors. They were all taken down to be looked at, even it they didn't have any visible injures.
Conrad was cleared. No visible injures. However, his eyes turned and met with Danielle's. She had scratches that she didn't even seem to know she had. She looked like she wanted to cry -- wanted to cry again.
Conrad moved over and sat next to her, "It's okay." He said.
Danielle looks at Conrad. Not saying anything but nods. Conrad remain there. He sat there as Danielle's wounds were being cleaned out.
"I'm not going anywhere," He whispered to her.
Danielle nods.

Upon returning to civilization, it was quite a culture shock to them -- mostly Hank. He had been away from humans for twenty-eight years.
While aboard the ship, everyone was given showers and new clothes to wear. For those who had a room on the ship prior, that just meant grabbing some of the clothes they had packed as for Hank it meant just getting an extra pair of clothes they could find him.
The Athena docked in the U.S. after days of travel. They had docked in New York. When the ramp was down and for them to get off, Danielle saw so many people there. As well as photographers with their cameras.
Word had in fact spread about their expedition. Probably by the senator that Bill had asked to help fund this trip.
Danielle looks at everyone. They all looked at each other with the same looks. They were all broken from this trip. Nothing was going to make them reveal anything that had happened on the island.
Conrad reached over and grabbed Danielle's hand, "Let's go." His accent sounded so soft.
Conrad headed down first, holding Danielle's hand, she was right behind him. Mason followed behind, Hank was after her, San and Houston were together, and lastly the three remaining soldiers.
As they walked off the ships ramp, they were met with reporters. Shoving cameras in their faces, flashes going off, voices asking questions.
Conrad shakes his head, "No comment."
