When the boat plane docked onto land, the group began to get off. Conrad offered his hand to Danielle, to which many thought was odd. But she accepted it as she was helped off the boat. Conrad led the ground as they trekked into the forest.
When they reached a bit into the forest, the group decided to sit down and wait for Packard's party. Mason sat on a rock, Conrad was slowly pacing, Hank was sitting on the ground, Slivko was standing as well, Houston and San were sitting on a log, and Danielle sat next Mason and Hank.
"That flare was only two clicks north. They should be here soon." Conrad said.
Mason shakes her head, "Unless they were eaten by something that's bigger than us." She said.
A few moments passed and then there was sound coming from the trees and branches. The crew reached for their weapons, only to lower them to see Packard and his men. Slivko smiled and ran over to embrace his brothers.
"Oh, shit." Slivko smiles.
"Slivko!" Mills smiles as well.
"I thought I'd never see you guys again," Slivko said.
Randa went over to Houston and San. Danielle kept her eyes on Randa. She had some choice words to say to him.
"I thought you were crazy," Houston said after he had hugged the man.
"I wish I had been," Randa said and glanced over to see Danielle looking at him.
Conrad stood in front of Packard, "What's your count?" He asks.
"What you see is what we got." Packard spoke.
Conrad nods, "We lost one too." Conrad said.
Everyone in Conrad's party frown thinking about it, it had just recently happened. Watching a man scream for his life being torn to pieces and not be able to help him in any way.
Then Hank gets up and moves over, Danielle decides to stand up as well. Randa noticed Danielle was standing close to Conrad but said nothing. Hank walked next to Conrad and offered a hand.
"Good to see you fellas." He said.
Packard looks confused, "Who the hell is this?" Packard asks.
Conrad grins, "We picked up a hitchhiker." He said.
Hank smiles, "Lieutenant Hank Marlow of the 45th suit squadron of the 15th." Hank introduced.
Packard was even more shocked, "You've been here since World War Two?' He asks.
Hank nods, "Yes sir," He then adds, "Did I miss the parade?
Packard shakes his head with a slight bit of shock remaining, "I'll be damned." Then he offered a salute to Hank, "Lieutenant."
Conrad placed a hand on Hank's shoulder, "We're gonna get him home, sir." He said, "We follow this river, we'll make it to the boat and we'll make it to the north shore in time."
