History Lesson - Layla

Seeing Ness walk out again was tough. We are like sisters.. Me acting more like the younger one on most occasions mind you. It's just me and David left in the suite now.

"Wanna grab a coffee" he smiles

Does this guy ever stop smiling, but I agree anyway and we both head out to the Starbucks around the corner ordering a double espresso each.

"She is truly something else your friend" David says sitting down

"That she is" I laugh "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her" I continue

"Really?"

"Yea, nine years ago I was living in the Veno Compound where my mother worked as a house keeper. One night there was a raid on the house from a rival family. They came in killing everyone they came across. Me and my mother were with Ness in the study helping her finish off some homework with her as her father worked at his desk. The rival family members came charging into the study holding a gun at the three of us on the floor, whilst another ran up and grabbed her father. He screamed at him in Italian saying how this would finish now, they were taking control now. He then slit his throat, leaving him to drop to the floor in front of a screaming 13 year old Ness" I pause and look around the room

"That is awful... How did you escape" he questions pacing his hand on mine

"Once they had killed her father, they turned their attention to us. The grabbed my mother..." Tears begin to fall down my face "they grabbed my mother and killed her... Ness doesn't give in to these monsters though. She grabs my hand and runs towards her fathers desk pulling out a gun from the draw and pointing it at the men. She stands in front of me and orders the men to leave or die, but they just begin to laugh. One starts to walk towards us licking his lips and Ness.... She shot him straight in the head killing him instantly. The remaining men are now shocked and pissed. They start to come towards us when Soap and Cavalo, who were working for her brother at the time come charging in killing the remaining three men within seconds"

"Layla I'm so sorry this happened to you and Ness. This is truly terrible" David says looking straight at me

"I... The main thing that hurts the most is losing my mother, but also not acting to save this 13 year old girl who just witnessed her father killed. She was 13 David and was put in a situation where she had to kill a man to save us. I'm 10 years her senior. I should of killed him, not her" I cry

"You were in shock.. People act differently in situations Layla. Please do not feel this way"

"David. You have no idea. The things what occurred only 3 years later. I just" I whisper

I stand up, I can't do this. Ness wouldn't want these stories been told anyway. I know she still suffered from the memories of this all. I kiss David on the cheek and walk out into the busy Wednesday morning madness of Central London.
