~After Lunch~
"Who is he?" you heard Eren mutter as the two of you entered the gymnasium together. You looked up at who he was referring to, bringing yourself out of your inner thoughts. You raised a brow in curiosity.
There, in place of your old gym coach, was a tall man; his grey moustache trimmed, and his head as shiny as a bowling ball. You nearly had to squint to get a clear look at him. You shrugged your shoulders.
"Maybe we have a substitute teacher?" you suggested, not taking your eyes off the tall man that stood so straight in his spot, you thought his spine might crack. You looked around the gym before spotting your ebony-haired friend. He stood, leaning against the far end of the wall, separate from the cluster of students. You smiled in slight relief.
You made your way (more like skipped) over to Levi after bidding Eren farewell so that he too could group with his friends. Levi slightly perked up when his gaze met yours, but he still stayed with his back against the wall.
"What took you so long, brat?" he muttered. You rolled your eyes.
"Well, hello to you too," you replied, ignoring his ignorant question. Levi frowned.
"Why would I need to greet you if I saw you about 15 minutes ago?" he reasoned, his glance degrading your intelligence almost as much as your math teacher did. You shook your head, not wanting to deal with his stubbornness.
What would it take for this boy to be nice for one day?
"Who's that?" you asked Levi among the voices of buzzing students, nodding your head over to the bald man that stood with his back straight. He surveyed the crowd of students.
"If you don't know him, what makes you think I do?" Levi inquired rhetorically. You groaned in annoyance.
"Why are you so difficult this afternoon?" you questioned incredulously. Levi merely glanced at you.
"Why are you so difficult every day of the week?" he retorted, crossing his arms. You glared at him before pouting. The corners of Levi's mouth upturned ever so slightly before he ruffled your hair. You attempted to swat his hand away, but he quickly pulled it back.
Looking up at the time on the analogue clock, you frowned. About twenty minutes had passed, yet the tall man still hadn't spoken. He seemed to be too focused on surveying the whole gym.
"When is that bald man going to get our attention?" Levi muttered, glaring harshly at the man with the moustache. You wagged a finger in front of Levi's face and shook your head.
"He isn't bald," you said. "Calling someone bald can lower their self-esteem," you reasoned. "You need to use better phrases." Levi stared at you for a moment as a list of colourfully-stringed curse words dared to escape his mouth. But he bit his tongue.
"Okay," he let out with the clench of his jaw. "What do you suppose I call him?" You thought for a moment, placing a hand on your chin. Levi rolled his eyes.
"Follicly -challenged..." you answered. Then you paused. Was that even a word?
Levi sighed and shook his head, looking elsewhere. "You're ridiculous," he commented before looking back at you. There was a slight smirk that traced his lips.
"FWEEEET!"
The loud and abrupt sound of a whistle caused you to flinch and turn to the source. You covered your ears. "What the--"
