(A/n): let me just say this; Merry Christmas to all of you. This is one shot that I decided to conjure up in the span of a two days so I'm sorry if there are any spelling mistakes.
Also, I almost forgot it was Levi's birthday... But we don't talk about that.**This one shot is somewhat way related to the main storyline, but not relevant so please, don't get confused if you find (Y/n) and Levi a bit more affectionate.**
It was December 24th. 10:33 PM. Usually, at a time like this, any normal person would be asleep in their bed, anticipating the next day to come.
But Levi wasn't a "normal person", oh, no. On nights like these, he wasn't filled with anticipation; rather dread. He couldn't sleep, and his insomnia had gotten the best of him.
His mother had always said she would call to wish him a Happy Birthday and a Merry Christmas--a promise which she always kept every year; and while it wasn't quite time yet, the thought still kept Levi up.
There was a strong possibility she would break her promise to him this year.
From what Levi knew to the extent of his knowledge, his mother was fighting in southern Afghanistan--where the war was particularly brutal. For the first time in a while, he felt scared. Scared that his mother wouldn't be there to wish him a Happy Birthday, scared that she wouldn't be there spend Christmases to come with him.
He was scared that she wouldn't make it...
Levi quickly shunned out any pessimistic thoughts that were once embedded in his mind. He tried to focus on his breathing, his heartbeat...
And then, he closed his eyes, oblivious to the quiet buzz of his phone before he drifted off into an unrestful sleep.
"Well, this is new," a familiar voice spoke into the deafening quiet of Levi's dimly lit room. Levi's eyes opened slowly as he searched for the source of the voice, his heartbeat picking up slightly.
'Is it really...her?' he wondered before his eyes landed on your form.
"Oh...it's just you..." Levi trailed off, slightly disappointed that you weren't the person he was expecting. He watched as your face contorted into one of shock.
"Just me? Just me?! How could you say that when your favourite person in the whole world came all this way to wish you a Happy Birthday?" You kicked your boots off your sock-cladded feet before jumping onto Levi's bed, landing on him in the process. He heaved slightly.
"Ah, what the fuck? I didn't say you could make yourself comfortable, brat," Levi reasoned while he attempted to shove you off of him. But his attempts were useless, as your body stayed adamant on top of his duvet; your right leg slung over Levi's legs, and your right arm slung over his torso. You were holding onto him much like a koala.
In other words, he was trapped.
"Oi, get the fuck off of me, brat! I can't breathe..."
"If you couldn't breathe, you wouldn't have been able to tell me you couldn't breathe," you retorted snarkily, earning a eye-roll on Levi's part.
You continued to speak. "And why aren't you ready yet?" Levi eyed you strangely.
"Tch, ready? For what?"
"I already told you, we're going out."
"No you didn't. You just got here. When would you have had time to tell me that?"
"Um, I texted you."
"...No you didn't."
"Yes, I did!" you exclaimed with a gasp. You reached over to Levi's lamp-stand, where his phone lay patiently. You grasped it before chucking the device at him (in which he caught). Levi's eyebrows creased, his eyes straining to adjust to the translucent light of his cellular device.
