Embarrassment

Dan groans and stretches his arms as far as they can go. He looked over at his sleeping friend and smiled while thinking, “Who blessed me with this adorable human?"

Apparently, Dan was so caught up in thinking Phil was cute, he didn't notice Phil woke up until he spoke.

“ Is this what you do when people go to sleep? Haha, that's kinda creepy," Phil joked, giggling.

“I-uh- I don't do that. I was just..." Dan paused for a moment to think of an excuse. He did just watch his (boy)friend sleep for a minute. “I was spacing out, like, you know, I give up," Dan shoved his face into the pillow behind him.

“What was I thinking? Phil's gonna think I'm a creep and a weirdo," Dan thought to himself. (Idk why, I just felt like putting a song reference)

You see, Phil is Dan's only friend. Sure, he has had other 'friends,' but they all betrayed him or just faked being his friend entirely. But Phil, Phil was different. Before Phil, Dan never felt wanted, he felt like he wasn't worth it. Even though he was only six or seven before he met Phil, he hated himself, more than any six or seven year old should. Phil practically changed Dan's life when Dan saw him sitting in the corner drawing. Dan decided to draw with him and just like how pictures change over time, so did Dan's heart. He stopped hating himself, he stopped being sad in general. He has always wanted to thank Phil, but he just doesn't want to embarrass himself.
(Okay, now I'm going to cry in a corner.)

Dan felt a light tapping on his back, “Dan? Are you there?" Dan didn't answer. The taps turned into shakes. “Dan, did you die?"

“Yes, I died." Dan answered, his voice muffled by the pillow.

Phil stopped shaking Dan and hugged him, “ Thank God, you're alive! I thought you died," Phil squealed, fake relief sounding in his voice.

“Nope I'm not dead yet!"

“Haha, we're such dorks."

“Yep," Dan agreed.

Phil just realized something.

“Oh shit! What time is it?"

“It's 6:32, why?"

“I forgot to text my parents that I'm going to your house!" Phil shouted in pure horror.

Dan tossed Phil's phone towards him. “Catch!"

Phil caught the phone. He had so many missed calls and texts from his parents.

Of course Phil told them where he was, why he didn't answer, and pressed send.

They calmed down and realized how hungry they both were. They went downstairs and saw Dan's mom giggling at something.

“What's so funny?" Phil asked.

“Oh here let me show you," Mrs. Howell said, stifling a laugh.

The picture she showed was of Dan and Phil with their arms around each other.

“Mom! Delete that now!" Dan whined with a slight bit of red on his cheeks.

“Nope!" Mrs. Howell turned away to avoid Dan trying to reach the phone.

“But mom," Dan moaned(not that type, you perv), dragging out the 'o'.

“But what?"

“ But, delete it," Dan screeched.

“Okay, okay, I will."

Phil stood there, holding back a giggle. He walked up to Dan's mom and whispered, “Don't delete it. Don't ask why but I want the picture."

Mrs. Howell said nothing and nodded.

"What?" Dan looked agitated.

“Nothing," Phil answered quickly.

“Alright, whatever. Let's go back to my room," Dan mumbled.
