Matty’s POV
Like I did in every other class, I was paying attention to everything but the teacher. I was never good in school, and that’s why I dropped out a few years ago, but thanks to a very good “excuse” I had to retake it and here I am, sitting at the back of the classroom, staring out the window. The sky was a bit cloudy, almost gray, and the wind was getting stronger, moving the trees around. It seemed like it was going to rain any minute now.
-Hey…- The little tap on my shoulder brought me back to reality, making me glance at the person sitting beside me and finding that girl’s eyes on me.- I’m sorry to bother you but… do you have a pencil? I was in such a rush I must have forgotten mine.-
-Eh… I think so, give me a second.- A smile appeared on her face. I have to admit that I didn’t really ‘look’ at her, during our previous two encounters. Her eyes… wow, they’re beautiful.
-So?-
-What?-
-Do you have a pencil?-
-Oh, yes… sorry, I got distracted.-
-First apology on your part.- And that smile again, she needs to stop doing that. I leaned down lightly to the side to take my backpack and started looking for a pencil. When I finally found one I reached out to give it to her at the same time she reached out to take it, smiling even bigger. Okay, that’s enough.- Thank you, stranger.-
-Matthew… Matty, my name is Matty.-
-Kelsey.- We looked at each for a few seconds before she turned back towards the board to write down some notes, something I wasn’t interested in at all.
The day went by like any other, it seemed like nothing important was going to happen today so, like I thought in the morning, once I’m done with my classes I’d go back to my apartment and stay on my bed the whole day. Or at least that’s what I had in mind until my phone started ringing on my pocket. I took it out and smirked when I saw the number on the screen.
-I thought there wasn’t anything to do today.- I answered right away, ignoring the greetings.
-There isn’t, nothing important, just a party, you know… just a moment of fun after all the work.-
-Work? Please, you haven’t done anything.-
-I saved your ass last night Healy, don’t start with that.-
-I had everything under control, you didn’t do anything at all.-
-You always have everything under control, of course.-
-See you tonight Daniel. Your place?-
- Is there a better place?- I rolled my eyes at his answer and said goodbye, hanging up and putting my phone back on my pocket.
Finally something interesting is going to happen on Monday, I actually had no idea why I hated this day so much. Any other day of the week could be boring for me, especially in the morning and sometimes at night, and then there were those other days where I got completely lost and didn’t even know what day it was.
Nights were a 360° turn for me, for my life. College was just a cover for my reality, absolutely no one could know who I really was, well, there was actually one person in the whole school who knew my story. She didn’t find out in the best way possible, it was an accident, but I was thankful to have her by my side, I could talk to her on the bad days and relax, just clear my mind from all the shit that accumulated there.
