The academy
The first thing Hiccup sees when he & Toothless land is the most important thing, Astrid is ok, if covered in soot, Hiccup jumps off Toothless adjusting his leg as he duos so & goes rushing over to her, hugging her tight. "Guess what babe, plasma blasts & extremely hot fire causes? Explosions" Astrid says not letting go of Hiccup. "You'd better tell me what happened" Hiccup replies finally pulling back to take a proper look at her & the surrounding area, all the fires were now out & just smoking, with Fishlegs, Volka & the twins helping to clean up.
"It's a long store" Astrid says. "The short version is that the baby dragons have started to get their abilities through" "Right" Hiccup says brushing soot off Astrid's face. "You might need to tell me the long version" "Well, we were teaching a class while the baby dragons were playing near the hay when suddenly there was this big explosion & the hay was on fire, & well there was a lot more explosions & nearly everything was on fire, so I sent someone to get you in case we needed you & Toothless to restore order but we managed to get everything under control"
Hiccup gives a quick glance in the twins direction. "Are you sure it was the baby dragons?" He asks. "Absolutely" Astrid replies, as if on cue own of the baby dragons burp, sending out a shot of red hot flames that exploded in mid-air, sending out flames everywhere & setting fire to Tuffnut "See?" Astrid continues saying as Tuffnut starts running around screaming, Hiccup is left staring at the baby dragon in complete shock & a bit of horror, while Toothless goes rushing over to the baby's side & pushes them away from anything flammable.
"I-I think I'm going to have to go & fire proof the house" Hiccup says quickly while Ruffnut & Fishlegs go to get some water to put Tuffnut out. "You go do that" Astrid says. "I'm hart, I'm hart I'm very much hart!" Tuffnut cries from behind them. "Were all fine here babe"
Behind the soon to be married couple Ruffnut & Fishlegs threw buckets of water over Tuffnut, managing to put the fire out, he is left standing there soaking wet & streaming, before he collapses to the ground, Fishlegs & Ruffnut watching him fall backwards before throwing the buckets over their shoulders & walk off.
"Well if you're really sure you're fine" Hiccup says softly. "I've handled worse" Astrid says back. "I'll leave you to it then" Hiccup gives Astrid a quick kiss before calling over Toothless who runs over & Hiccup jumps on, the two of them fly up in to the air as Astrid watches them go, she then turns back to where Tuffnut is laying & kicks him so he can get up & continue cleaning before going back to doing just that herself.
The Haddock house
Later that evening Erit & Hiccup are in the Haddock house, putting some of the upstairs furniture in place, a lot of the new furniture was already in place in the main bedroom, the two of them just had the new double bed to go in before the room was done.
"I just don't know how I never thought about fire proofing the house" Hiccup says as they push the bed into place under the roof window. "I should know by now what baby dragons are like" "I've never known a baby dragon to be that destructive though" Erit replies. "&it could have been worse, but still" "Yeah, it could have been worse in a smaller space, & now I need to find time to get it all done" Hiccup sighs.
"I can always help get it done for you while you're busy" Erit offers. "I don't know, you've done a lot to help get the house in order already" "I don't mind, it's the least I can do" "Thanks" Hiccup says as he lays down on the left side of the bed where a Night Fury symbol had been carved in to the headboard, a Deadly Nadder symbol was carved in to the right side, with the two intertwined in the middle.
"Now I think I might go to sleep" Hiccup says, Erit laughs. "We've still got the other rooms to do first" He says." Just five minutes" Hiccup says, Erit lays down on the right side of the bed, looking up at the carvings on the headboard,soon Astrid would be sleeping on this side of the bed, no doubt wrapped in Hiccup's arms.
"You're a lucky man Hiccup" Erit says moving his gaze to the ceiling. "I know" Hiccup replies, he looks up at the carvings & smiles. "I still can't believe it's really happening" He says. "The day Astrid agreed to marry me has got to be the best day of my life" "Until the wedding day at least" Erit points out. "Oh yeah, & that day will probably be joint best with the birth of our first child, well the birth of all of them really" "How long do you think it'll be until you start planning for kids?" "I don't know, a year or so maybe, being so busy with chief stuff I'd like to have her to myself for a while"
Hiccup smiles at the thought of getting to come home to Astrid every night, he then jumps up from the bed. "Well we should get on, we have still got two more rooms to go" He says, Erit climbs off the bed & follows Hiccup out of the room, ready to finish getting the upstairs rooms in order before it gets dark.
The Hoffason stables
In the mean time Astrid is in the dragon stables by her house, helping to put the baby dragons to bed & making sure there was nothing they could set fire to during the night that couldn't be put out easily by Stormfly, the last thing they needed was the baby dragons accidentally burning the house down, Astrid is almost done when she hears the familiar footsteps of Hiccup approaching, she smiles & continues her work knowing that when the footsteps stopped he'd be leaning against the door frame looking impossible to resist.
"Busy fire proofing too I see" Hiccup says with a smile. "Well it's needed for the next couple of days" Astrid replies. "Don't want this place burning to the ground" She finishes securing the last bucket in place & jumps down,straight into Hiccup's arms.
"So are you here to say goodnight or do you want to stay?" She asks as she smiles & wraps her arms around Hiccup's neck. "You said we had to what until the wedding night" Hiccup points out. "Hay, just seeing if you're still struggling without having me" "Oh very much so"
"Well you've survived another day babe, just four more to go" Hiccup smiles & kisses Astrid gently. "I think I might be able to survive that" He says. "Goodnight Astrid I love you" "I know" Astrid says."Goodnight Hiccup" after one last kiss the two lovers let go of each other & Hiccup leaves the stables, giving Stormfly a pat on her nose as he goes, Astrid watches him go before she follows him out & heads back into the house ready to turn in for the night herself.
