Erit's house
Hiccup goes to Erit's & when he gets there he knocks on his door, praying Erit would be in, Hiccup breathes a sigh of relief when Erit finally opens the door. "Chief, what a pleasant surprise" Erit says. "What can I do for you so late?" "Astrid sent me" Hiccup replies. "She said you seemed a bit off earlier when she came to check on you & wanted me to see how you were, she's worried about you" "Oh right, you better come in" Erit says nervously & steps aside to let Hiccup in & closes the door behind him.
"Do you want a drink or anything?" Erit asks going to pour himself some more ale. "That would be great thanks" Hiccup answers as he sits down. "Now what's wrong?" "It's kind of hard to admit to" Erit starts saying. "I tack it has nothing to do with the effects of having a Deadly Nadder spike in your leg" Hiccup says. "Not directly no" Erit places a mug of ale down in front of Hiccup before sitting down opposite the Chief with his own mug.
"Listen, I know I should be honest here, so can you promise me you won't kill me for what I'm about to tell you" Erit says nervously. "You have my word" Hiccup says. "Last night, something happened that hasn't happened as vividly as it did for a long time" Erit says nervously, Hiccup realized what Erit is getting at after Snotlowt's comment's the day before, & then remembering how the night before had ended with Astrid tending to Erit's leg wound, it didn't take a genius to figure out the reason Erit had been so weird around Astrid earlier, Hiccup bits back a smile, finding it hard to be mad when Erit was clearly awkward about it.
"I think I understand" Hiccup says comely. "You've been having fantasies about Astrid" "Yeah" Erit says nervously. "I thought I was over it" Erit says again nervously. "But after last night, it's all coming back" "So this isn't the first time this has happened?" Hiccup asks.
Erit answers nervously. "When we first met, I'll admit I thought she was hot, i'd probably would of hit on her straight away if she wasn't threatening me with a stick" "Well you were holding her dragon captive, although she still would have beaten you into the ground if you'd hit on her anyway" Hiccup says with a grin. "Yeah, there is that" Erit agrees. "You should have been here when we were growing up, Snotlowt had constant bruises from the times he hit on her & got thrown against a wall as a result" Hiccup says with a laugh. "How long did it take him to realize it was best not to hit on her?" Erit asks. "Oh years, I think a lot of the other guys around are age learnt a lot sooner not to hit on her & treat her with the respect she deserves"
"That used to be so easy to me, I really fell for here when she kidnapped me, the more I got to know her, the more I fell & somehow the easier it got to hide what I was thinking, & it wasn't like she was ever going to be with me, it was obvious during that time & since how in love with you she is, so I got over it, we're nothing more than friends & I'm ok with that" Erit says comely, Hiccup puts his hand on Erit's shoulder & says comely. "Until last night, when a fantasy was like a reality"
Erit takes a long sip of his ale. "This wasn't meant to happen" Erit says putting his mug down. "She's marrying you, she loves you, I've seen the way she looks at you & she will never look at me that way, I should be over this, & I honestly thought you'd be more mad at me for this" Erit answers nervously. "I gave you my would I wouldn't kill you" Hiccup says giving a small smile. "& to be honest, I'm so used to seeing men hit on her & knowing what they might be thinking about her I'd be surprised if you told me you never fancied about her"
Erit looks at Hiccup confused. "Doesn't it bother you?" "All the time" Hiccup says comely. "But I know Astrid can handle herself, she'll deal with them if anyone tries anything, & given how you acted around her earlier just by remembering what happened last night it's not like I'm worried you'd do something, I trust her & I trust you" "Thanks Chief, that means a lot" Erit says with a smile.
Hiccup takes a sip of his ale realizing something. "You know you can't avoid Astrid forever she's already worried about you, you're gonna have to tell her" He says putting the mug down then Erit looks at him in panic. "Are you crazy?! She'll kill me!" Erit exclaims. "She might not, the two of you get on well enough that she might let you live, I just think the two of you need to talk this through, it might help" Hiccup suggests. "If you say so chief" Erit says un-certainly, then Hiccup says quickly. "Of course don't hold me responsible if I turn out to be rung" Erit gives a small laugh. "Right, of course" Erit says before going to take another sip of his ale, he was actually glad to have talked things through instead of keeping it bottled up he just hops talking with Astrid about this would go just as smoothly.
The Haddock house
The next morning Hiccup is woken up by knocking on the door, by the time he'd got a pair of trousers on & got downstairs his mother had opened the door & now is sitting with Astrid at the table. "Morning sexy" Astrid says smiling at Hiccup lovingly, seeing Hiccup coming down the stairs. "This is a pleasant surprise" Hiccup says joining the two women at the table & giving Astrid a quake kiss. "What can I do for you this early in the morning?"
Astrid smiles. "How'd it go with Erit last night?" "Great" "Is he ok? Does he need any more treatment?" Astrid asks. "As far as the spike goes he's fine, although I think the two of you need to have a chat sometime today" Hiccup suggests. "Why? What's wrong?" Astrid asks. "Nothing, well ok something maybe something, but its better you hear it from Erit, just don't kill him ok?" Hiccup asks. "Why would I kill him?" Astrid asks. "You'll find out when you talk to him" Hiccup smiles. "I'm sure it's nothing to worry about" Volka says as she gets up to start breakfast, Hiccup gets up too.
"Well I'm going to get changed" Hiccup says going up behind Astrid & placing his hands under her shoulder amour. "Unless this beautiful maiden wants to join me up there" Hiccup whispers cheekily, Astrid giggles. "No-way, not today" She says. "I want that new bedroom to remain a surprise for the wedding night" Hiccup smiles. "Ok, I'll see you in a bit" Hiccup gives Astrid another quick kiss before he runes up stairs, Astrid watches him go, smiling to herself as she thinks of how close it is to the wedding day & night.
