Bethany Alba

"How could you be this clumsy ?! Like, how is it humanly possible ?!" Michael tells the tall boy, who's name I've learned is Luke, for the fourth time.

We've been arranging the books for hours now. The three of us. After Luke dropped them all, they insisted on helping, even after I declined there numerous requests.

"I said I was sorry, jeez." Luke replied as he stood to place the books he had already sorted out on the shelf before sitting back down.

"Bethany Alba didn't mind, or did you Bethany Alba?" He tells Michael.

"I didn't mind." I say smiling. It was true, I didn't mind. Even though it took me forever to arrange them there, and it was going to take forever to arrange them back, I was having a lot of fun.

The first hour was a bit awkward and quiet, but the second one and the ones to follow were fun. We played truth or dare, what are the odds, resulting in Michael licking the bottom of Luke's boot, and what we were currently playing, 21 questions.

"Okay so what question was I on ?" Luke asks working on a new pile of books.

"13", Michael answers.

"Okay, 13. Bethany Alba, have you ever been in love?" Luke asks me. My cheeks fill with red tint, embarrassment washing over me, mostly blushing because I've never been in love and partly because Luke hadn't stopped saying my last name since he learned it.

"No." I say not looking up. My eyes were focused on the books below me.

"No way." Luke says. "How is it possible that you're, wait how old are you?" Luke asks. I finally look up, meeting his shocked eyes with my own.

"Sixteen," I say giving him smile part smile.

"Oh, pff ," Luke rolls his eyes, " Everyone falls in love when they're sixteen, it's bound to happen." He says. I wonder how much older than me they were.

Luke definitely looked like he had to be older than 18, but Michael looked much younger. Yet, Luke acted much younger than Michael did.

"How old are you guys?" I ask quickly before Luke could ask me anything else.

"I just turned turned 17." Luke said, " I'm a grown man." He said flexing his biceps.

I laugh as Michael  looks at him and rolls his eyes.

"Anyways, I'm 17, going to turn 18." Michael says smiling.

"Yeah, in 7 months." Luke scoffs and throws a children's book at him.

"Hey ! I never said when !" He throws the book back at Luke.

After a couple minutes of them fighting, they actually began to put the books back, claiming they had to me up with another one of their friends and they were already late.

Much to my disappointment, we finished pretty quickly.

15 minutes later, we were all done.

Luke played with my ponytail as I walked them to the door, swatting Michael in the face with it.

"Bye Bethany, we'll be back soon." Michael says engulfing me in a hug I was not expecting. After he let go, Luke hugged me as well.

"Goodbye, Bethany Alba. I promise to not drop anymore of your books." He chuckles and swats my ponytail before letting go. I watch as they walk away towards Michaels car, which was around the corner, as they had previously told me.
