As they landed back in the hotel room. Bethany attempted to regain her composure as she landed awkwardly on her feet. In a sense, it was better than landing on her face like in the past, so at least she was getting used to that form of travel.
Hey eyes wandered over their room, meeting every crevice in an attempt to avoid Ruben's eyes that were blazing into the back of her skull.
Turning around, she chanced a glance at him, her body still hot from their previous encounter. She found herself gulping in fear at the look he was giving her; it was more than the hunger that she had seen before. It appeared to be to be deeper this time around.
It was something she had never experienced before, and she wasn't sure what was happening to her body. It longed to touch Ruben, to feel his skin against her fingertips, to ravish in the soft flesh that were his lips again.
Is lust an emotion? Bethany thought to herself, unsure of everything coursing through her brain.
"It's more like a craving, than an emotion," Ruben answered, and she realized now that she had asked that question out loud.
All this time, she thought she could never experience whatever it was that Ruben was feeling for her, but as it turns out, she didn't need to feel it. It was never something that was taken from her, she just never came across someone that allowed her body to do so. But it was happening now, here, again with Ruben. And she didn't want to stop it this time.
However, Bethany wasn't aware that Ruben's feelings for her went a lot further than the lust she was experiencing for him. Ruben didn't care though, the fact that she was feeling anything for him to begin with, was enough to make him never want to sleep again.
Bethany watched as Ruben approached her, slowly enough to make her heart pound ferociously in her chest. His eyes were what got her though. They always seemed to put her in a trance-like state, and she didn't know how to break free of it. Did she even want to? Ruben was making her feel things that she had never felt in her entire life, and it was certainly addicting, to say the least.
He was now standing directly in front of Bethany, and her breath got caught in her throat. His strong hands reached up and were placed on each of her cheeks; she gasped in response from his touch. She was long gone from attempting to understand the madness that was going on in her brain, but she no longer cared about it.
She wanted this, she wanted Ruben, but apparently, she wasn't allowed to have him, because just as he leaned in to make their lips meet once more, a popping noise echoed throughout the room, signaling The Watcher's arrival. Ruben jumped away from her so fast, it was as if he were on fire.
"It appears that I am interrupting something," The Watcher's monotone voice hit her ears, and she instantly felt a sudden heat rise in her cheeks where Ruben's hands were once placed. Bethany was disappointed now, but she definitely wouldn't show that.
"Nothing to interrupt, sir, we just go back to the hotel room," Ruben advised him, standing straight, and he refused to meet Bethany's questioning eyes. Why would he tell The Watcher that there was nothing to interrupt? Did he forget that he could see every waking move they made and every single word they spoke? Unless Ruben knew that he wasn't watching them at that present time, and that's why he even made a move in the first place.
"Good. I apologize for the delay in this meeting. I ran into a little inconvenience," The Watcher advised, but Bethany could sense that something was up just by the way he was speaking. "The initial plan was to send you immediately to the next vessel, but that plan has changed. You will be staying here in Pittsburgh for the next day or two while I take care of something important. Once I have taken care of that, I will be back with the information needed to continue on, and I will know if any funny business occurs." He looked between Bethany and Ruben, and disappeared the next instant.
